You can get an Intel Xeon 1230V3 . It's i7 4770 (non-k) on steroids
It's just 10$ more expensive than i5 4670k but combo Xeon 1230v3 + B85 mobo will be cheaper than i5 4670k + Z87 mobo . It's clearly faster than i5 4670k due to Hyperthreading (4 cores 8 threads vs 4 cores 4 threads)
However , it can not be overclocked so it's slower than OCed i5 4670k in Dolphin
Base on Dolphin Benchmark , i3 4130 @ 3.4GHz outperforms FX 8350 @ 5GHz . Xeon 1230v3 should be ok for most demanding games (not all)
just gettin an asrock z87 extreme3 and a 4670k, gonna OC it
lol but thanks for that man.
I just switched from an AMD FX 6300 to an i5 4670K and everything is faster. I had my fx over clocked to 4.5ghz and this i5 at 4.2 destroys it in every application, even at stock it was a lot faster then the overclocked AMD. I didn't have much of a problem emulating GC games with the AMD but wii games were for the most part more demanding and wouldn't run at full speed. Battlefield 4 for pc is said to use all cores of amd cpu's but I get better performance from the i5 then I ever did from the AMD. It would studder and jump around on ultra but with the i5 it's very smooth. Will never look at another AMD processor unless they get their act together and improve single threaded performance.
Well , it isn't a fair comparison to begin with . FX 6300 is mid-range CPU while i5 4670k is high-end CPU . I5 4670k destroys it in everything (include multi-threaded benchmark)
Should be FX-8350 vs i5 4670k
4670k isn't the highest of Intel's pre-edgestuff lineup, though, but FX-8350 IS for AMD. I'd say 8320/6350 would be a slightly "fairer" comparison. But, in reality, a fairer comparison would be between the FX-9590 and the i3-4130.
lmfao! nice input guys
Don't most games these days only utilize two cores also? Only a few actually take advantage of quad core, correct?
I just hope AMD comes up with something to put a little pressure on Intel. Intel is so far ahead, they can just sit on new innovations. Luckily that doesn't seem to be Intel's trend.
Jumping on the bandwagon with another i5-4670K FTW post. I have not owned the specific CPU that you were going to purchase, but the 4670K blows the doors off everything I've ever used or owned before. It literally opens my Windows Control Panel faster than another CPU would. You will see improvements across the board on almost every workload with this CPU, and in the one small case of 8 core video encoding, QuickSync will level that playing field really fast.
Haswell + SSD + high-end GPU = Lightning speed. Click and go.
