Hey guys, first post here!
I'm having trouble running SMG on the emulator (v4.0), I understand that I have to use LLE to make the music play correctly, but when I use this mode it stutters pretty badly at certain points in the game. It does this regardless of what video settings I am using. (I usually use 4x and it makes no difference if I set it to native) Any tips or tricks to get the audio working correctly? All replies greatly appreciated!
PC Spec:
i5 3570k 3.4ghz OC to 3.8
R9 290 4GB
8GB RAM
Is there a possibility to push a little more the CPU? Also, the recommended model for games like SMG is i5-4670K.

I would but my aftermarket cooler packed in (almost fried the CPU!) so i'm back to the stock one and don't want to risk overheating. OpenGL seems to make the game work much better but when that's enabled I can't select the star that flies me to the planets -.-
Maybe it wasn´t your cooler, but your thermal paste? Make sure to clean the cooler before overclocking again. Always check temps, even more if on a laptop.
it's the fan that packed in, I bought some new thermal paste and applied it properly when swapping coolers just to be safe though, the temps are fine and it's stable at 3.8. I'm going to keep the heatsink and get a replacement fan as soon as I have the money
Try with 4.0.2 and check Vertex Streaming Hack under OpenGL.

Okay i'll give it a go, thanks!

Apparently it's not supported by my GPU, is it cause it's an AMD card? It's a relatively new one and it's definitely not low spec by any means. Do you know if there's any way around this? Skyward sword runs absolutely fine and graphically that game looks far better. (FPS varies from 65 down to 40 and i'd say 40 is the one it's at the most)
I see DJBarry's back to being an idiot as usual... Vertex Streaming Hack is only useful on Nvidia GPUs.

Probably because you have "Skip EFB Access to CPU" checked in Graphics > Hacks. Uncheck that, it fixes it.
Lemme go into detail about that: every game has a config file that specifies a few options that are required for the game. Games start with these options regardless of what you have set in the UI, but opening the Graphics config while in-game will reset all the graphical options to what you have them set to. In this case, you've probably had Skip EFB Access checked this whole time, but haven't ever tried using one of those blue pull stars after opening the Graphics config in-game until just now.
Aside from that, replace that fan and put that cooler back on so you can overclock further. SMG has always required quite a bit of an overclock to run well with LLE. It's also helpful to run a current development build, as there's been a rather massive speedup for AMD GPUs on OpenGL after 4.0. (But recent audio latency improvements have made the stuttering itself sound a lot worse, so that's a bit of a tradeoff.)

Okay thanks for the informative reply, i'm looking into getting a new fan as we speak. Recommended OC for SMG on a 3570k? And this may sound like a stupid question but does SMG2 run any better? If so i'll pick that up.
I'd recommend at least 4.4 GHz, but I don't own a 3570K so experiment with it if you can. SMG2 runs identically to the first game, as far as I know.
