I'm a very new member.
I joined bc I wanted to ask a question about Zelda TwPr for GameCube - and I also have answers for a couple of questions in there.
The forum rules states that I'm not allowed to create a new thread in GC the department.
Why not? I mean, most new members become members to get answers...
This forum seems a little hard to understand comparing to other forums.
You are suppose to ask in the thread, not make a new one, that is why you can't make new threads

What thread? I mean usually you start a new thread with every topic...
Or the threads become about everything and with no answers to specifics.
So.. I have a Q about GC Zelda TP. How do I post that to get answers?

We already have existing threads for nearly every known game. If you have a question, you look up that thread for that game and ask in that thread. If you can't find a game, try reading the big red thread labeled "Read this first" in the Gamecube or Wii forum.

The post limit (300 to create new threads there) was meant to ensure that only seasoned members could create new threads there when they're supposed to. In fact, it's really meant to prevent new members from needlessly duplicating game support threads (no offense to you).

Ok. No offense taken. But! The reason I ask is that "the-legend-of-zelda-twilight-princess" is a rather BIG topic and I actually did find a question about a problem exactly like mine. So - where do I find any answers to that? Do I have to scroll the whole rest of the thread hoping someone MIGHT have an answer? Thats over 200 pages. Im asking this bc I DONT want to 'needlessly' ask questions already answered.
It's considered "okay" if you read a game thread's first post thoroughly and then scroll through the most recent pages of the thread. We of course don't expect you to read every single page, but then again asking how to fix Super Mario Galaxy crashes is annoyingly redundant when it has already been asked on every second page anyway.
EDIT: Oh well, and as usual when about to ask for help on forums, using the search function is the obvious first step to everything. (just to be clear that just looking at a game thread does not justify being lazy in that regard)
Just adding to what neobrain said, super common issues are addressed in a thread's first post, which is basically an exact copy of the wiki entry. Read a couple of pages, then ask away. The regulars here who frequently help users really don't care if a question has been asked before unless it's obvious the wiki entry addresses it thoroughly; we'll answer your question regardless in any case. There's no need to hesitate; just ask us and we'll do our best to help.
What's more, the forums have a nice feature where you can search individual threads (not just a forum-wide search) for keywords. Just scroll to the bottom and you'll see a little entry box in the lower right-hand region. This is a great way to cut through much of the cruft in a thread.

Go to the thread I linked to, type in your question in the Quick Reply box or click the link for New Reply and type your question into the editor, hit Post Reply, and then you're done.
As far as most forum software is concerned, any post made within a thread after the Original Post (or First Post if you prefer) is technically a "reply", even if you aren't responding to anything. If you want to ask something new or even unrelated to the Original Post, you still create a "reply" but it's no different than making a new post within that thread.

THIS area of your forum ('Site Feedback and Questions') works like forums do most of the time: A topic where you can post 'New threads' and get answers to the specific question in that thread.
In the GameCube section you can only post a question with 'New reply' which means that the answers to that question will mix in with other questions and replays - and that is not the usual in forums. Also many users answer questions with a 'Quick reply' instead of 'Reply' so that you don't get wich question they answered in the first place. Also ppl with questions don't bother to change the subject so every post has the same one. All that was confusing to me but I get how it works here now.
