ok so as the topic says, i got 2 systems, one Intel, the other AMD, now my issue is that they are both fairly powerful machines here are the specs for both:

PC-1
AMD FX 6300 6 core cpu 3.50 ghz
SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB GDDR5 VAPOR-X

32gig of Corsair vengence ram
Windows 7 pro 64 bit

PC-2
Alienware 17
Intel Core i7-4900MQ cpu @ 2.80 ghz
32gig of ram (not sure the make of said ram)
Geforce GTX 780M

comparing the 2, ran the test in hyrule field, pc 1 will drop to 20 fps, where as pc 2 runs flawlessly, both are running in D11, with AA 2 samples and AF 1x, what i'm wondering is, why am i having fps issues with the first machine which is just as powerful as the 2nd?

thanks to anyone who can help out, and if you have any tips i can use to improve performance i would most appreciate it.
The first isn't as fast as the second, intel CPUs are far faster
hmm i see just figured seeing as it was a 6 core that it would make up for it, but i guess when it comes to emulation intel is better, shame really, i figured seeing as my machine was fairly beastly it could handle anything.
Dolphin is a dual core program.
Even if Dolphin was a multi-threaded application , a mid-range FX 6300 would never ba able to reach a high-end i7 4700MQ let alone top of the line i7 4900MQ . With Hyperthreadning , i7 4700MQ has 4 cores 8 threads
Don't let those "6 cores" fool you . AMD is really weak at performance per core . Although marketed as a six-core CPU , it's not a true six core CPU (though i admit that AMD module technology is better than Intel Hyperthreading)
ah, well then guess they suckered me good then when i built this machine, here i was thinking 6 cores was actually worth it, ah well to late now, still does what i want it to, and i got my alienware now so i can play emulators and other snazzy games Big Grin
Get an aftermarket cooler such as CM Hyper 212 Evo (only 32$) + Arctic MX-4 (10$) and overclock your FX 6300 to 4.4GHz . Though it won't be as fast as i7 4700MQ in Dolphin but it should be ok for non-demanding games

The PC market is easily obfuscated.
Although keep in mind that Dolphin (or Emulation in general) has this insane CPU requirement - other Programs will work perfectly with the FX 6300 - even highend games like Battlefield4 will run smoothly.
AMD CPUs have a good price/perfomance ratio (thats why they are in the new Generation Consoles for example).

Just compare: an intel i5 4670k costs ~2x times as much, but is only ~1,5x times faster (in general)

So the FX 6300 is not a ripoff - it's actually the better CPU for the money!

And it will be even better if AMD raise their CPUs´ IPC...
