I was wondering, know that the Dolphin Team has made the Dolphin Emulator a reality, would it be easy to emulate or make an emulator for the PS3, I know, I know, the usual answer would be about within 3 years or more, but if the PSP emulator has been made by Henrik who I think is also in charge of the Dolphin Emu, and pcsx2 emu, then Can't he try doing revs for the PS3 emu then? I myself would love to be a beta tester for this, as I'd love to play so many games on ps3 on PC.
I know, I know, you'll probably say, then buy the PS3, but unfortunately I could just buy the games only lol, as I don't Get much pay, and what I do get, is very limited to spend on

, but it would be epic to see the Dolphin Team work on a PS3 Emu Rev, I would love that so much

I've heard good things bout the rpcs3. Just not sure to trust em

, Tho I think if Henrik made a PS3 emulator, it would get a lot of attention
The code google page is no longer updated, they moved
1. Why are you asking this here of all places? As far as I know Henrik has never had anything to do with dolphin. I had never even heard the name before until today. If you want to know if he'll do it then ask him. Although the answer will almost definitely be no since he apparently hasn't expressed interest before.
2. Whenever the dolphins devs have been asked this question the answer has been somewhere along the lines of "haha, no".
3. Dolphin has nothing to do with the PS3. Dolphin devs don't necessarily have experience with or care about the ps3.
4. There is absolutely no way in hell that a semi-accurate (enough to run some games without major bugs) ps3 emulator would run at acceptable speeds on current PC hardware. In fact I doubt it will be possible even 10 years from now as you would need a nearly 10 fold increase in single threaded performance. Which has only been increasing by 10% per year for the last 4 years and that's expected by both AMD and Intel to get even lower over the next decade. It might be possible a decade from now with some serious breakthroughs in manufacturing technology.
5. Even if it were possible you would need such an ourageously expensive system to do it that it would make such a feat extremely impractical from an economic perspective.
6. Getting such an emulator to tolerable levels of accuracy would take many many years of constant work by a team of dedicated programmers. It took dolphin a decade to get where it is now. And the PS3 is a tremendously more complicated machine. So even if performance weren't a concern you would still need to wait many years before the emulator was usable to play your favorite games.
The conclusion is therefore obviously that while it may happen in the future, it won't happen soon. At least not to the point where you can use it as a substitute for a real PS3. I may not know much but I believe I can claim that with absolute certainty.
You don't know Henrik? You should search before posting. He is one of the two co-founders of Dolphin. He is ector. Anyway, I agree that he should ask him. But as far as I know, he isn't interested.
Any emulator development needs to start at some point. I heard that the very first version of PCSX2 ran the game at only 1 FPS.

Ah yes, I know of ector. I've only ever seen him use that name before here, on IRC, or on any other project I've seen him work on though. I've never seen him referring to as henrik before. I did google the name but didn't find anything useful.
xemnas Wrote:Any emulator development needs to start at some point.
And it has already started. rpcs3.
I know that. It's just that you mentioned the current PC hardware which shouldn't be a concern when someone starts developing an emulator of a very powerful system.
