I used dolphin 3.5-1382 to play Super Mario Galaxy and Newer Super Mario Bros Wii (a hack of New SMBW), and use 3.5-367 to play Super Paper Mario. I just downloaded Dolphin 4.0.1 the other day, AND I MET THOSE TROUBLE:

1.I lost my settings. I've got to re-do all settings basically.

2.I lost my game data. I don't know if the game data is stored in the Rom (or the disk if using a real wii) or in the dolphin's data (or the machine if using a real wii). But anyway my game data disappeared in 4.0.1. And my game said that my data will be stored in my "storage" or something.

3.Data was stored in C drive, where the "My documents" is. I would like to make the data stored in the folder where my dolphin.exe is because it's easier to manage and doesn't take my space in C drive.(a state takes hundreds of MB and my C drive is nearly FULL!)

HOW do I:

1.transfer data (settings and game progress) from the old dolphin to the new one?

2.Stop Dolphin from saving data in my C drive?

I might meet even more trouble later! If I do I'll post later!!!
You can move your My documents folder since windows 2000. Right click on it, select propeties and select a new location. Don't forget to move your old data...

HOW DO I move my old data etc??
Ignore him and just read up on this: https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/controlling-global-user-directory/

Or, tl;dr, just move your data into the folder your Dolphin.exe is in and put an empty portable.txt next to them.

shit page not exist.
Move your old data (For Example : Dolphin 3.5/User) to your new Dolphin folder/location (Dolphin 4.0.1/User) and create an empty file "portable.txt" in your new Dolphin folder (Right-click your mouse and choose "New - Text document ")

Copied. However I've my Super Paper Mario progress in dolphin 3.5-367 (which is SUPER not recommended by you guys but that game does not really work on my 3.5-1382) and my Newer Super Mario Bros Wii in dolphin 1382. How do I get them together????

(ps. I'm a Mario fan......)

ps. I did copy all information in user folder to the 1382 and in both folders I've got the save of SPM but the one in 367 is newer.

You can add your game saves by selecting them directly in User/Wii/Title
