4.0.1 only affects specific issues, so there's no need to "force" people to upgrade unless they're suffering from those very specific issues.
Any reason to use this latest release build over something like 4.0-2XX? And does 4.0.1 still have the D3D9 backend or is it beyond the 4.0-155 build, I only ask because I'd like to keep the best most stable/advanced build with D3D9 for archiving purposes in case something later down the line doesn't play nice and requires it.
4.0.1 still has D3D9. It's just 4.0 plus a few cherry-picked changes, it's not equivalent to any build in the master branch.

.. which, by the way, is maybe more advanced than d3d9 in 4.0.1, but I surely wouldn't say it's more stable (hasn't received much testing yet, if any). Either way, it's not supported and @xemnas: You should mention these things when referring people to that branch.

Hey, thanks this is exactly what I was looking for, going to keep my eye on this one.

Calling something "stable" is hardly a deterent with emulators since everyone and their mom just goes from dev build to dev build anyway, the gaps between numbered releases are just way to long to do so otherwise. And I release its not going to be officially supported and the [UNOFFICIAL] tag makes that obvious, but d3d9 isn't supported anymore either so whatever.
Was there a fix for the slowness in mariokart on Linux yet? /me ducks
good news guys, keep up good work.
rhy: If you're talking about the old "Dolphin is slower under Linux" issue (https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=2444), that's been fixed since before 3.5. If you're talking about it being slower on more recent builds, blame Linux graphics drivers.
Just out of curiosity did you guys do anything to HLE in this release o.o..because i just wanted to test it out and ive been playing a super mario galaxy 2 for atleast 15-20 minutes now and audio hasnt cut out! (normally it does it within like 5) Just curious to see if you guys did anything or i just got lucky c:
