There must be a misunderstanding here. I believe you, and that thread you linked describes exactly what I said: double image.
(09-24-2013, 05:17 AM)NaturalViolence Wrote: [ -> ]You need to maintain 120fps for lightboost to function properly.
Of course! Every monitor "likes" to display the same number of fps as Hz. That double image effect happens on normal LCD monitors too, but the sample-and-hold technology masks it a lot.

I've played a lot of low fps games on various friends CRT TVs and I don't think I've ever seen that. If it's there it's not noticeable to me, at least not like this.
Well, I remember it perfectly, trust me

. If you look for it, you'll find it, I'm sure. Edit: check this:

(09-24-2013, 05:17 AM)NaturalViolence Wrote: [ -> ]You would be playing at the same framerate. Assuming you're still talking about dolphin.
Yeah, I know. Lightboost still would be somewhat useful at 60 fps. It would be like: frame1>black>frame1>black>frame2>black>frame2>black>frame3>black>frame3>black
The screen blackening between DIFFERENT frames is what makes motion fluid and without motion blur. But at 60fps, every frame would be displayed twice and that would break the perfect motion, as the eye would expect a diferent frame at every refresh. That's the double effect.
I don't know if I have explained everything correctly, but that basically sums up things I've read at the blurbusters website.

Mmm, I don't think they are doing a 1x2 or 2x1 SSAA when they say "2xSSAA", I would have noticed

.
Edit: Nvidia Inspector has 1x2SSAA, 2x1SSAA, 2x2SSAA, 3x3SSAA and 4x4SSAA. IMO, that's the most accurate terminology, referencing the number of times the X and Y resolution are multiplied.

You're assuming that they're using an ordered grid pattern. They could be doing 1x2 or 2x1 OG. But they could also be doing 2x RG, JG, or SG. The latter is more common these days.

That's the other common notation. Sample count per pixel is far more common though. And the notation you mentioned earlier doesn't even exist.

I'm aware of why it happens. But that doesn't really matter. It looks bad regardless of why. At least to me. And it's far more noticeable than on a CRT that's for sure.
You can go ahead and try it if you're not convinced but don't complain when/if you find that I'm right. I'm confident you won't find it as enjoyable as you thought.

Haha, I'm willing to try, but now I don't have much money to spare

. Before I was just telling theories without any real life experience in Lightboost. If I get someday one of those monitors, I'll tell you what I think. I won't complain since I already don't expect it to be near perfect. Well, and we still haven't mencioned games that run at 30fps. It would be even worse.
By the way, a version of MAME can insert black frames when playing at 120Hz to make the 60fps perfectly smooth when combined with Lightboost:
http://www.blurbusters.com/software-based-black-frame-insertion-improves-motion-clarity-in-mame/
That way there are 2 black frames between each frame of the emulator instead of repeating them twice. It surely makes the image darker, though. I wonder if this could be done in other emulators...
It could but it would be extra work for a feature less than 1 out of 100,000 users would even make use of.
He'd be lucky if one of the devs has it and implements it just because he wants to make use of it.
5 hours and 45 minutes left before AMD crushes NVIDIA. Don't let us down AMD. You can do it!
*Looks at AMD vs intel* yer I'm not to exited :p
But I need CUDA for Blender
I hope scan put a sale on the GTX 760 (or maybe the 770, but only if it's a major sale). They've done this in the past.
Goodbye AMD. I guess it's time to jump ship. This presentation was... awful.
