Weren't you the one that got the used GTX 260 C216? Why would you downgrade to kaveri?
Edit:
@AnyOldName3
After digging up some articles, you're right. It's supposed to run at 90C, not 120C.
I could use Mantle for EA game's and the GTX 260 for pretty much anything that doesn't use mantle. If the GTX 260 does better I just won't use the integrated gpu.

Not exactly. If you are not American, you are subject to be spied on by NSA. Even if you are, you might be spied on as well. Even President Obama was accidentally spied on.
@DatKid20
But why buy one then? There is no advantage.

I'm either going to buy Kaveri or whatever apu uses Excavator.

I thought that was the 290X, so the 280X gets those temps too? I thought the days of hot temperatures were a thing of the past. I guess I was wrong.
My old 4890 was idling at more or less 56ºC, and reached a bit over 90ºC when it was dirty (I need an air compressor

). Once cleaned, it didn't reach 80ºC. It was a really noisy GPU too. However, my GTX 760 usually idles at 27ºC and max temp I saw was during Crysis 2, 70ºC. Usually doesn't go over 65ºC (overclocked, of course).

Wow, I didn't even notice I accidentally wrote that. I meant the 290X of course. My 280X doesn't get that hot. It's around the 65-70 degrees Celsius range when gaming.

Oh, OK, I was feeling worried abour 280X users

. Now that's a normal temperature.

But why?
Why would you spend all that money on something that isn't going to improve your performance?
masterotaku Wrote:I thought the days of hot temperatures were a thing of the past. I guess I was wrong.
The exact opposite has been the case. Thermal tolerance and dissipation have been increasing every year over the last decade for GPUs.

If it's going to end up on the web (youtube, vimeo, etc.) it's going to be compressed to hell anyways. You'll never be able to notice the difference.
Unless these are for personal use. But why would they be?
