No sir, gotta order some and figure out how to apply it without breaking my laptop trying to open it. Turbo boost put my temp upto 104c when dolphin is running, and turning it off it runs about 80-85C and still runs the same. Also helped my other pc games run better with turbo boost not being active.
Im also working on getting an actual gaming desktop. my buddy has a spare GTX 460 he said i can have for free which would be sufficient enough to run the games i wanna play until i wanna upgrade to something much better.

but yeah i gotta change out that thermal compound out for the current time being until i can afford a desktop. any recommendations on what i should look for thats more upto date. I see some of the older post that almost 2-4 year old dunno if the stuff is still relevant.

1. Remove screws.
2. Remove case.
3. Remove more screws.
4. Remove heatsink.
5. Wipe away old paste with cloth. Clean with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth.
6. Apply and spread new paste.
7. Do inverse of steps 1-4.

Use MX-4 if you can.

yeah i have unscrewed it before (trying to clean out the cat hair in the keyboard lol)but cant actually get the casing off without feeling like im gonna break something or there's a screw i dont see hidden somewhere. Ill figure it out once i get the paste. cause i was thinking about replacing the heatsink too if possible as i heard the paste is trash and the heatsink is garbage in these laptop models. Ill assume amazon would be the place to find the paste, and is it a one time thing or something to upkeep every few weeks/month.
The heatsinks are usually custom designs so goodluck with that.

If this model has a higher end version that has a better heatsink he could replace it with that one. Maybe.
I like this thread. It reminds me of myself about 4 months ago.... before Dolphin made me build a desktop PC... back when I had $1200 in a savings account.

Anyway, I only skimmed the topic, but has anyone actually suggested just cleaning out the years of dust that is inevitably blocking airflow? I think that should be pushed as the first thing to do rather than replying thermal paste. When I had my laptop (from what I've read very similar to yours) I opened it up and removed the dust and that dropped the temps while running dolphin from 100c down to the low 80's. Turning off turbo boost is just going to slow everything down.

It really isn't that difficult to get into a laptop, search for youtube videos, I watched a guy on there open up a laptop that was the same as mine, then I did it right after and barely took 20 mins. Great learning experience too. Pull out that hairball and turn turboboost back and and you're good to go.

If you have vcore on Auto, voltage will surely increase a lot when using Turbo Boost. It happened to me the day I bought my PC. If you can (I have no experience with OC in laptops), change it to manual and try a safe value. That way TB won't overvolt your CPU and you may get cooler temps.

Yeah thats what i was planning on doing was youtubing how to properly open it up, cause its the only computer ill have access too without having to bug room mates. Yeah i also plan on cleaning it out more thorough as the can on compressed air can only do so much if it aint making it worst lol.

Also as i mention me turning off turbo boost has actually made things better not just for dolphin but for my other pc games. and i got nearly the same temp drop even before cleaning it out fully 104C to about 80-85c with dolphin up, while pc diablo3 likes to chill at 62-65c and im able to max it out now without any issues. So far everything been running better in general with turboboost off as odd as that sounds. Now i really wanna see what turboboost is capable of, as i had no idea about it really until i came to these forums and actually started to get to know my computer from trying to solve my problem.

Sadly i have no clue what you are talking about >_<. Vcore on auto? i dont see anything really about voltages and dont see anything about it in CPU-Z so im in the dark here. Ive only been able to trick turboboost to not activate, there doesnt seem to be a way to actually shut it off or mess with the settings through normal means if thats what you are referencing too. it looks possessed and do what it does on its own even when i wasnt really doing much on it. the turboboost monitor would show it randomly go off full throttle for a split second with the fans going nuts(temp only goes upto 61c during the random spikes) then i usually stays at around 51-53c as of being here.

I'm talking about the BIOS. Didn't you disable Turbo Boost in the BIOS? Well, if you don't know what you are doing, it's better that you don't do anything until you read some guides Tongue . Still, I don't know if your laptop lets you change voltage in the BIOS.

na i didnt do it thru the bios, when i googled about how to turn it off all the results i was seeing said you really couldnt turn it off. So i ended up doing something else to keep it from going. And the voltages, just like overclocking, sounds like they are in the same boat and probably gonna gimp my laptop if i screw up. unless there are safe values i should be able to do and keep turbo boost on. ive been looking around at some guide but it seems to vary between laptops and desktop and model numbers so i wouldnt know what to do exactly if i should bother at all lol if there are different value per item.
Figure with the turbo boost thing built in they would had atleast done something to actually make sure it gets enough power or whatever so it not the sole reason for causing alot heating not the programs themselves seems counter productive to even have it in from what ive noticed.
