Hi, I'm buying a notebook and I'd like to know which of these laptops will run Dolphin better:

Asus k45vm
Intel i7-3610QM
Nvidia GeForce GT 630M
http://www.submarino.com.br/produto/1131...-windows-8

Samsung Ativ Book 6
intel i5-3230M
AMD Radeon 8850M
http://www.extra.com.br/Informatica/Note...e=busca-57

They both have 8GB 1600MHz RAM and 5400rpm HDD.

They're about the same price: 2400 BRL (about 1000 USD). Things like these are expensive here in Brazil.

Will either (or both) of them be able to run games like SMG2 and Zelda SS at 1080p at 60fps?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
What's the price difference? Dolphin will not be able to take advantage of the extra cores in the i7, and the i5-3230M has a higher base clock speed. Couldn't find any info on IPC for either of these processors. The i7 has a few more features and multicore performance for general apps will be better. If Dolphin is the primary use and the prices are significantly different, I think the i5-3230M will perform as well as the first one. I can't say if they can do SMG2. I don't either either will do Zelda SS at 1080p.

edit: I see the price difference. They're about the same if I'm not mistaken?
CPU performance will be about the same with regards to performance but the 8850M is a faster GPU. Get the Samsung.

Thank you for both replies so far.

Regarding Dolphin being the primary use, not exactly, but it will be one of the main uses. And I need it to run games like SMG2 and Zelda SS at 1080p.

I already have a Wii with component cables. So what I need now is a notebook good enough to play at 1080p the games I haven't played yet.

I know this guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ena3EKeAzC0) has a better CPU and a better GPU than the notebooks that I'm intending to buy. But he's running at 2560x2112, and even recording at the same time. So I presume that, with the specs of those notebooks, I'll be able to run at at least 1920x1080 without recording. But I have to be sure before buying.

Again, thanks in advance for your help.
A laptop is not going to run SMG2 well. Even a high end one. SS is doable but not on those.

The specs of the machine from the video link you posted are MUCH faster than either of those laptops.
I second that conclusion. Neither of these will run SS @ 1080p.
Got similiar question so I will post in this topic. Which of this 2 is better:
MSI GE60 2OC
-Intel Core i5-4200M
-NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

LENOVO Y580A
-Intel Core i5-3230M
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M

Is that cpu in msi much better for emulation?

The MSI one is better.
But they have same cpu frequency.
I have read that MSI is overheating a lot.

The MSI laptop has a haswell cpu instead of ivy bridge which makes its hardware superior for dolphin.
