[EDIT]
Yes it does, as anyoldname3 said the only problem is that itanium was never fast enough to replace/emulate x86 home computers successfully. Therefore there's no reason for intel or amd to produce a new processor architecture(yet).

and i need to refresh more too
GODDAMMIT I NEED TO REFRESH MORE
Itanium was not meant to be compatible with x86 in anyway, it was proposed as an all new arquitecture designed to fix all the problems the x86 had (using a VLWI aproach, native 64-bit registers and adressing modes etc...)

but the Itanium requiered the programmer to carefully write the code in order to be efficient (which was not received very well, considering that the Pentium already had some on the fly optimization techniques) that and the poor x86 emulation doomed Itanium to oscurity...only intel refuses to accept defeat and still calls it a "niche" arquitecture.

but only if by "niche" they mean "not even your mother would love you"...
Sorry to bother everyone here in this thread, but why are you still arguing about which architecture is faster than the other?

Does someone who has any level of experience with PCs really need that much info you´ve put in here just to know that x64 systems are better than x86 systems only because of the data transfer/writing/reading/(whatever they doTongue) speed?

About that other emulator (it´s for PS2 if I´m not wrong) and the CPU instruction it uses and all that stuff, WHAT in this world has that thing to do with Dolphin, precisely in a Dolphin forum?

(Not trying to start a fight, just trying to make things clear, ok?)
I agree. Why try to learn things when you can just take peoples word for it and end the conversation there.

I'm not sure what you you mean. But this topic isn't about x64 systems and x86 systems. The OP wants to know why Dolphin x64 build is faster than x86 build. If you read this thread carefully, you must already be aware that just being x64 build doesn't make it faster (or at least doesn't make it significantly faster).

I mentioned that for other emulators, 64-bit build is not significantly faster than 32-bit build. Then somebody talked about PCSX2 but he misunderstood therefore I explained it. I'm not sure what your point is. I believe that the discussion regarding PCSX2 is already over and the reason why it has been discussed is not difficult to understand.
@xemnas: I know what things everyone wanted to do with those ideas and I know the O.P.´s quest, but anyway this thread was unnecessarily taken to the point it has just reached.

If I remember well, either delroth or NaturalViolence mentioned the reason (the main reason!!) of that enhacement in x64 builds, and why it doesn´t happen with 32-bit builds.

Let´s leave this thread as is, please. If the O.P. reads all this he/she will REALLY get confused with this stuff.

No i`m not, quite the opposite, the discussion it`s getting better.

Smile

If you have nothing to contribute to a thread, don't reply on it. You are not being useful here, only completely obnoxious.

Consider that a warning. If I see that again, I won't warn.
