After finishing the Wii U version, I can confirm that it's better overall.
It's visually stunning. I was still impressed even after playing the GC version at 4xIR with 4xAA. Here are some screenshots of the release version I took from the Wii U (yes, you can upload directly to flickr from Wii U... awesome). It's a shame they're downscaled to 720p....

The bloom isn't as bad as the early shots showed. Sometimes it still doesn't quite fit right, but the original game would look pretty dead after getting used to it. The new sky in particular is really amazing.
My main complaint is that they didn't fix very much gameplay-wise. The gamepad is great, but you're still limited to 3 item buttons... they didn't add new touch buttons on the screen like OOT3D did, and they didn't even use down on the D-pad or L for much of anything.
The triforce quest is shorter and more rewarding, but it's still a big fetch quest plopped in right at the end of the game. The game is still full of padding content in general. Total waste of an opportunity to finally fix the game.
The overall package is a big improvement, but you can tell that they only spent 6 months developing it. They didn't even redraw a single texture, they created a program to automatically upscale the old ones. There's also still a lot of pop-in when sailing the ocean, which is a big disappointment considering that everything was supposed to be loaded all at once. It's a lot more fun to play, but yeah... not the real remake it should have been.

Nice screenshots! I am not a big fan of the bloom so I like that they scaled it down a bit from the original reports.
