also, imo, the manga had a better ending
I always have trouble rewatching Death Note all the way through. It's so excellent, but it just goes to shit after SPOILER. But the soundtrack is fucking amazing.
I only read the manga. The second part is less intense than the first part, because Yagami and his opponent are no longer in direct confrontation, but find it interesting on its way because it goes more political and shows how stupid humanity reacts when they're exposed to fear.
I thought it was kind of dumb that it was the other guys fault he got caught, but I liked it other wise.
Started watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and so far I am very impressed.

Haruhi is one of those shows that has a really cool setting and some great moments, but largely ruins it by focusing on uninteresting plots and unlikable characters. Generally still good overall, but quite a bit of missed opportunity. The movie is fucking incredible though, it's everything you wish the show was.
