I have been curious about this for a while, however don't know if I have
a good enough rig, and if not could somebody please tell me what I
should buy and put in my pc?

What do you think here is the rig...

----------------------------------------

Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth 990FX

Processor - AMD FX-6100 3.31 GH

Ram 8GB

Graphics - ATI Radeon HD 7970 3GB

Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

Harddrive - Seagate ST3500418AS 500GB

Thank you very much for replying if you do[Image: smile.gif]
Which games are you planning to play?
Zelda - Skyward Sword
Super Mario Galaxy 1,2
Zelda - Windwaker
Donkey Kong Country Returns

As well as some others...
There is a CPU hierarchy you could have taken a look at https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-do...-hierarchy the AMD FX series is under the "very fast" category although I wouldn't recommend it as AMD processor aren't the most ideal for Dolphin and at stock speed it won't be able to handle some of the more demanding games at full speed. I would advice you to get an intel i5 3570k or i5 4670k as they are the best options for Dolphin. Your rig will be able to handle Wind Waker and Donkey Kong Country Returns but it will not play Skyward Sword or Mario Galaxy at full speed (or an acceptable speed at that)
I don't really want to buy an intel because I have had bad expirence with it before. What if I buyed this AMD FX-8350 X8 4.0GHz

Yeah I'm pretty sure that one will do the job
Thank you, then I am going to buy that one to be able to play those gamesSmile

In general ...(not include demanding games ) . You didn't think that thread was outdated , did you ? (Hint : Latest Dolphin being slow...)
Your i5 3570k stook speed will struggle with SMG + LLE . FX 8350 is way below i5 2500k level in Dolphin (even if you overclock FX 8350)
See Official Dolphin Benchmark with lght-weight game - Zelda WW and decide which CPU you should buy for Dolphin

Spoiler:
Seeing that I can't rely on passmark benchmarks is there a way to check which cpu will have better performance with Dolphin?

That's why we did the benchmark, to give us an idea of how specific CPUs - and by extension larger groups of CPUs (Bulldozer, Haswell, etc) - perform in Dolphin. Even though 3.0 is old, if a certain CPU is faster than another, the same will be true when talking 3.5 and the latest revisions. Additionally, if we don't have a specific CPU, we can extrapolate based on entries from the same microarchitecture. For example, if we have a couple of Haswell results, we can generally estimate the performance of other Haswell CPUs that haven't been added yet.
