Basically the chipset (a compound word meaning "set of chips") is a group of chips on the motherboard that facilitate communication between the cpu and other devices. These chips do not necessarily have anything to do with quality of the motherboard or any of the other components on the motherboard.

In fact most modern Intel chipsets aren't a true chipset anymore but rather a single chip, the PCH (platform controller chip). And most of them actually use the same chip but with different fuses blown to disable certain features. If I recall all Haswell chipsets are actually variants of the DH82 PCH.

That depends what you're doing with the system. For high end emulation yes.
If it will give me a performance boost in Dolphin then I will go with the overclock. I appreciate your advice and informative posts.
