Has anyone looked at the source code of OpenDX2? Here's the link to the sourceforge page . Could someone use this to recreate the directx9 plugin from Windows Dolphin? Sorry if this is a stupid thread... Undecided
Nothing needs to be rewritten. The point of that project according to the description is to run directx apps on linux (similar to wine). I doubt it is anywhere near complete enough to run dolphin though.

The page you linked turns up no documentation or files of any sort. I'm also not getting any results related to the project in a google search.
That project looks like vaporware. Nothing is available for download, even though it's been a registered project since 2001. Something this useful would have more than 0 weekly downloads, so I figured something was up when I looked at the sourceforge page.

OpenGL does pretty well on its own on Linux in Dolphin. I've been using it for a year and a half, no complaints about speed or backend compatibility from me. It doesn't require over-the-top hardware (GTX 550 Ti was mid-range when it came out, pretty old now), just good drivers; Nvidia's proprietary drivers are pretty good as far as I'm concerned for Dolphin.
I can't really check because my internet won't allow me to go on any websites except for a select few. This is one and now that you talk about it being vaporware i do remember looking at the page last year and not finding any progress. :/ sorry for wasting your time.
DatKid20: OpenDX2 would be nice for developers to check our direct3d backends also on linux, but why do you want it? For speed? Even if OpenDX2 would be perfect, it would still be much slower than our OpenGL backend as it emulates the direct3d API on top of OpenGL.
I thought it would be a true directx implementation. But it seems that it's more like wine's directx than anything. I would want it for the speedup that directx9 provides over opengl.
And you wouldn't get that :p

If it existed why wouldn't I? Amd's linux opengl drivers are horrible.
.. because horrible OGL drivers are better than nonexistant D3D drivers.

A D3D runtime for linux doesn't give you any drivers.
Open source drivers could be created. This is linux we're talking about.
