It sounds like you are using mesa 9.1.0 to 9.1.2. There is a bug in this mesa revisions which make dolphin unusable. So the easiest way is to upgrade mesa to at least 9.1.3
You'll find your OpenGL driver + version in the output of glxinfo
Edit: It sounds like I really have to fetch this affected revisions and print an error on screen...
