Yea, that shows that my driver workaround for the older driver versions is no longer necessary for the new version included in the Nexus 5. This'll be fixed in a while.
Just to clarify those that mean the display will be landscape when using the newer drivers?
It'll be fixed when I fix it for the new drivers.

Nexus 7 2013 flo has been updated to v53 driver with kitkat suffers from same orientation bug as nexus 5, no more crash and reboot

Probably when you get an update to 4.4
I flashed an early 4.4 custom Rom and it was still on the v45 drivers unfortunately.
I just pushed a couple commits which disables the workarounds for the couple issues fixed in the latest v53 video drivers.
Go ahead and give the new dev version a whirl if you want.
Tried 378 and it's still rotated, typos appear in the settings menu too input says slot 3 and video says split workload. 376 FC's, 358 didn't.
Interesting. I'll have to get my hands on a Nexus device with Kitkat it seems.
Mupen64AE also suffers from the same rotation bug when using it's glide64 plugin with 4.4 KK and the 53 driver, on 4.3 JB with the 14 driver it wasn't rotated.
As far as I know only the deb version nexus got the 45 driver update on JB 4.3.1
