Opps...sorry, i can not see my attachments (i'm newbie)
I don't know if i'm close or not but after getting a save file, the mario kart wii shows a banner instead of "no banner". The game is still in black screen though.

AngelickP I don't know if this will help you but Mario Kart Wii is just a simple racing kart game with no special game play.
How about you just download a save game from Wiisave.com and import it to Dolphin.
You could always delete the records I think, that way you have a working save that takes you in game at least.

I already tried it. I downloaded 3 save games and nothing works. How could I turn off the progressive scan from the game specific settings that is found by right clicking the game and select properties. The option is read-only and cannot be modified. It's set to ON by default and I believe that it overrides the dolphin settings.
I took a pic of the error msg I recieve while playing shortly into the 2nd level of mushroom cup circuit. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for me.

I get that randomly too. I'm told to use DX9 or use EFB to TEXTURE.
Seems to fix it but in DX9 the game doesn't run well at all and EFB to texture removes some graphical elements.
Damn. 3days and mario kart wii for me still doesn't work.

OK sorry to hear that about the saves.
Have you opened the game's ini file under the GameConfig folder?
That way you might find something about the Progressive Scan option.
But I think it's not actually ON since it's not an ticked option just a filled undecided box.
Mario kart wii for me is working perfectly now! I copied my friend's iso and it works. Maybe it's just a bad dump or something. This game doesn't have an issue in creating a save file.
...that's considered piracy, mkay?
