The real question is,do you REALLY need a laptop?Or you could get a cheapo 300$ one for work/stuff and then build a desktop for Dolphin and etc.
yess...i need a laptop...it's for working and playing game purpose..
Get the I5 with the faster cpu speed.
actually there are only 5 gamecube games i wanted to play with dolphin..
1. resident evil zero
2. resident evil remake
3. fire emblem path of radiance
4. mario kart
5. tales of symphonia

if my specs enough to play those 5 games i won't change...because other laptop available around my place doesn't have good graphic card

sorry..the specs has change..this is the real specs
acer 4755G
-intel core i5-2430m 2.4 ghz ,
-4 gb memory
-VGA Nvidia GT540M - 2 GB

will this laptop capable of playin those 5 games i mentioned above?i don't use the dolphin to play wii games...
These games will run of course but you should test by yourself to see what performance you really get. Then adjust eventually your settings and come back on the forum if you got issues you can't solve
ok..so far i've played resident evill..written there 27 fps and speed 100%...is it normal??the only time the fps goes to 50+ is when opening the door..
feel a bit slow actually..and when their talking the voice out of sync..
Okay so I have just far surpassed that of the enthusiast build for much less right? Cool

I'm going be building an HTPC that can handle Dolphin emulation, the budget is quite low.

The system I've been researching hardest is:
AMD A6-3650 - it can OC to 3.1-3.4 on stock cooling from what I can tell, and I'd use the video on the chip. To get the most out of that video I'd use 1866 ddr3.

For $11 I can swap out to a Pentium G850, drop to 1333 ddr3, and a GT430.

Would the additional cores help, knowing Dolphin has three threads or will the Intel outperform consistently?

Also, what type of boost would an extra $100 for the i5 really get me? Like does it make a whole different class of game playable? I'll be playing at 720p.

AMD 4 core : Gain 10% for background processing (compare to AMD 2 core)
Pentium Sandy Bridge : 10-20% faster than 1st gen i3 (Hyper Threading is disabled) and 1st gen i3 is faster than LLano abit on dolphin
-> Yes it will out-perform LLano unless you oc Llano to 3.5Ghz

i5 2500k @ 4.4ghz is required for LLE back-end
Mario Galaxy , Rhythm Heaven .... need LLE to fix the missing audio or to sync audio correctly

Edit : Get AMD 6570 over Nvidia GT 430
