always use A/C power when gaming Smile
will it run alot of wii and gamecube games the 2nd gen or...
because the 450m has 2.4ghz and the 2410m has 2.3 and the 480m has 2.66ghz
can't really say for sure, but among those option you write, 2410M should be the best

can't really recommend laptop for emulation though (ps2 or wii/gamecube). best to stick with desktop.
ok thanks and will the nvidia gt520 card be good enough

what will be the major difference with the 480m and the 2410m
that GPU should be enough, if needed, play on wii/gc native res

480m do have higher baseclock (2.66), but the same turbo boost ratio (2.9GHz)
but 480m is the first generation core i5, while 2410m is 2nd gen (sandy bridge)
sandy brigde have better performance per clock, it is faster despite lower clock.
so 2.3GHz 2410m might have the same (if not slightly better) performance than 480m 2.66GHz.
if both have turbo boost kick in (2.9 GHz), 2410m certainly faster than 480m

you don't need to OC, stock work great with wii and gamecube game, even using LLE.

but if you really want to OC, get better cooling. hyper 212+ is good, and cheap Smile i use this cooler myself, quite satisfied.
considering i life on tropical country, 36-37 degree celcius cpu core temp on normal usage and rarely goes beyon 45 degree on gaming (or 50 on intense cpu usage like emulator), sure is cool ^_^

for PSU, atleast get 550W and make sure it's pure power.
mobo, if you want to overclock (seriously with K series, you should). get motherboard with with P67 chip, or z68 (tend to be much expensive) to get OC capability.
asus P8P67 pro, asrock p67 extreme4 (that i use), both are nice andaffordable for a premium board (since you're low on budget)

ram, get 1600MHZ 4GB kit, geil ripjaw would be nice

for hdd, get any lower speed sata 3. i use 2 caviar blue sata3.
lol, 2x 500GB blue are cheaper than 1 TB black, and on raid0, is way faster than black Smile

Thanks for the info man, it was really helpful. I feel like I have figured out most of my configuration. However you were right about that GPU, it isn't really available anymore. I checked and couldn't find any in stock. I guess Ill have to try and find something else. darn.
your welcome Smile
too bad, those card (5830 and 5850 extreme) were fast and very cheap. gonna be hard to get same performance with the price of those 2.
for the same price range you can get 550Ti or HD6790, lower performance rate than 5850 extreme, but more than enough for dolphin and PC games (especially when not on full HD res)
"for PSU, atleast get 550W and make sure it's pure power."

Why has it to be at least 550? I'm thinking of buying a 450W

And also, is Club 3D Radeon HD 6850 a good GPU?
if you want to use 2500K (plus overclocking) and that 6850, plus 2 hdd in raid, 450W still capable, but might kinda pushing it when on full load, especially if you don't get a good PSU. get 500/550w to be on the safe side. you still have enough power to upgrade/add other component later.

hd6850 are good, and it has the same performance range with GTX 460 and use less power. should be safe even on 450w psu Smile
