I would not listen to your advices anymore ( computer related ^^ ) and please dont call me ignorant or stupid again just because I dont want to spend 300 box every month for a cpu , ok !

And for all those who want to buy a i7 you have to buy ddr3 triple channel memory (3 gigs 150$) and a x58 motherboard(300$)

So Good Luck Rockfeller , I ll check your profile next month to see what you bought!

Definitely changing so often your processor shows that you know nothing about hardware (or you dont read the good reviews).A bit desapointed with your behaviour !

Your a fool, he bought all those and is saying what is best, you should be thankfull he spent that money and is able to tell you the difference from experience. you guys need to stop making assumptions and listen to what others have learned from experience
if you buy a better cpu, what else should you say then "its better" ?

that has nothing to do with experience, its just obvious.

- "oh hi, i just bought a ferrari and its faster then al bundys dodge."
- "I can also chiptune it to over 9000ps, very easy !"
- "What do you say ? I can only use 2 of his 4 wheels ? fuck that, its still best."

... you obviously aren't listening, he was telling him that it WAS better when he said it WASNT... the 2 cores operate FASTER the games go FASTER
Why so cheap HDs? 150Gb is not enough for Wii and GC games (at least for me Tongue), I even bought portable hard drive for games (150Gb rofl!)
You are right nosound + Any "enthusiast" pc should have SSD drive nowadays !
...if you're willing to pay for those.

will they ?

average joe will do better with E8500/8600 in most cases compared to i7 920 :

- faster without overclocking
- much easier to reach 4ghz+
- much cheaper

to win against a core 2 duo with i7, you must reach about the same clocks which is impossible as with same cooling etc an E86/500 just overclocks much better.

example : you find much more E8600 running 4,5ghz+ on air then 920 running 4ghz on air.

thats all for dolphin of course, you cant win a SSE5 benchmark that supports 8 virtual cores against i7.

AGAIN your simply comparing clockspeed... the i7 will have a significant clock per clock benifit over the e8600 and will have 2 more cores and be about the same price... it makes no sense therefore to buy the e8600
Quote:the i7 will have a significant clock per clock benifit over the e8600

not for dolphin.

smt -> useless
more cores -> useless
SSE5 -> useless
faster memory -> not worth much here

please compare any non SSE5 benchmarks, for example here : CLICK

You will see that q9450 (same clock) is most times not more then 10% slower per clock.

That means a C2Q with ~10% more clock is about the same speed as i7 if you take out SSE5 and maybe those applications that depend heavily on memory.

So you need to reach nearly the same clocks with i7 as you would with c2q (duo for dolphin) for same speed.

Quote:and be about the same price... it makes no sense therefore to buy the e8600

even for E8600 it's much cheaper(150$+) because of the mainboard and ram.

again : thats all for dolphin.

If you do video encoding or whatever with your cpu, you might buy a i7.
check this out guys i dont know why the price is so low Recertified: XFX HD489AZDF Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card for 169.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150379
