The thing about buying pre-configured i7 laptops though is that they ALWAYS use the 2630qm chip. And the extra speed from the 2720qm is a necessity for running dolphin. So I am always forced to go to the manufacture's site and customize the build. Maybe I will look into MSI. Currently I was on the fence between Envy 17 and XPS 17. Anyone have any other models I can look into?
It would have been easier to recommend better stuff if it ain't was Laptop/Notebook related.

Hmm, I looked at what NewEgg had to offer and frankly not a single Laptop/Notebook fell into my taste.
Did a search on Google to find the 10 best Laptops of 2011 and those mentioned sucked.
If I were to buy a laptop, I wouldn't settle with anything less then a monster in terms of performance and hardware.
So deciding on a laptop has been stressing me out, however I just realized in the next month or so I'll be moving into a bigger place which would give me room to use a desktop. My initial reaction was excitement for I get to build myself a PC. However, when I thought about it, what would truly be more cost effective? because building a PC would be cheaper than buying a laptop, however with a PC I would be required to buy a monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, etc. I feel like these things would add up making the laptop the inexpensive choice.
Would I be able to make a decent desktop setup for say $1200? (Price of Customized XPS after Coupons)

i don't know about XPS, but if you buy components seperately, you'll get a very decent above average PC with that
my rig (see signature) cost me around $1000 (not including monitor, mouse, keyboard, speaker)
