Hi all,
want just report that i have now my new HTPC Hardware:

- Intel Core i5 650 2x3.20GHz
- PowerColor Radeon HD 5750 PCS 1024MB GDDR5
- G.Skill 4GB KIT RipJaws PC3-10667 DDR3-1333 CL8 RM
- ASUS P7H55-M Pro
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

OpenGL Plugin runs not perfect. Had overclock the CPU up to 3,9 Ghz and then its run nearly perfect.

DirectX Plugin run much better. For me Good running without overclock! And much bether picture Quality! When need i try to overclock a little the CPU, but at the moment its runs good enought for me without, but only with DirectX of course. Will see how Mario Kart work Big Grin

Stop right there. You're using the OpenGL plugin? That one is significantly slower than the Direct3D plugin... Try that. Remeber to have the DirectX 9 runtime installed if you're running Win 7, or the Direct3D plugin won't show in the dolphin settings.
reason I was using OpenGL was because I wanted this to work in Linux(my main OS, Windows is my secondary)

Tried DirectX. Got a playable 35fps (not really a noticable lag) on 1280x720
I see. Well in that case I guess overclocking is your only option...

Hi everyone!Smile

I'm planning to buy a new computer for all-purposes and ofcourse Dolphin (maybe PCSX2 too...).

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3.

CPU: What processor may choose?:

1. Intel Core i5 660 3.33Ghz (182€)
2. Intel Core i5 670 3.46Ghz (260€)

660 is cheapest than 670, but it's a little slower (0.13Ghz less).

Those 0.13 Ghz will bring me more fps?

620 bring me more advantages than only 0.13Ghz more?

I'm not planning to overcloking in the nearest future.

GPU: Do you think that an ATI Radeon HD 4550 512MB DDR3 i'ts a good option?? Or I will need a better one...?

RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600. (I think it's powerful enough).

Thanks in advance.Angel

LOOOOL Would you spend 78€ more for an extra 4% speed?
It can mean only 2 or 4 more FPS, if you have a beast for video card.

Buy the Intel Core i5 650 3.2Ghz (~157€)! I have it also and when you need you can easy overclock it up to 4Ghz with the normal CPU cooler! This CPU is really a overclock beast!

Really??

That looks interesting... Rolleyes

What is the highest temperature with the normal CPU cooler at 4.0GHZ?

It's overclocking easy to do with that processor?

You got good speeds in games without overclocking?

What about the GPU, ATI Radeon HD 4550 512MB DDR3 i'ts a good option? Or I will need a better one...?
Your GPU is fine for Dolphin, although 512MB DDR3 is not a lot these days... If you want to play any other new games I would go for one with at least 1GB of memory.

Just google a little for the core i5 32nm CPUs and you will see that its works with the standard CPU cooler to overcklock its to about 4Ghz.

I use a Ninja Mini Cooler thats is passiv without FAN, but have two very good Case FANs near the CPU cooler! And when i overclock to ~3.9Ghz (160mhz frontsitebus, 133 are the standard) i get about 51° with about 15min using dolphi.

At the moment i use the Dolphie r4771 together with the DirectX Plugin ... its the best for me now. Yesterday i ty a newer Revision and lost some speed. Whatever, with the r4771 i get without overcklocking in wi sports for example 30fps, sometimes goes to 25fps but absolutly playable!

At normal the GPU is not so important, but in the next days i will check the OpenCL posibility in Dolphin. In this case you can use the GPU instead of CPU to make the most emulating work. I hear its speedup dolphin about ~40%. Will see.

Why you dont buy the newer HD5*** Cards? You will get a HD5670 512Mb for about 75€. I have the HD5750. When in the future the OpenCL functionality works good, then a good GPU is more and more important i thing. Of course when you set all options to high in the GPU Plugin, you need also a good GPU.

mew

ummm... OpenCL sounds great...

Please report your results with OpenCL chrissooo!

Thank You chrissooo & Roger525 for your help Smile
