Im going to overclock the i7 to around 4.0 GHz. That should help I suppose.
You could equally take an E0 920 and oc it to 4ghz and it would perform IDENTICALLY to the extreme.
you guys talk like 4 ghz is easy with i7.
funny that most dont manage to get this with air-cooling.
i7 just doesn't oc as easy as c2d/q, you have to live with that.
maybe the new ones will do better, but who knows.
It isn't easy but it's attainable.... Paying an extra $600 to reach it is a bit OTT though

I mentioned that I had Liquid Cooling in my post I believe. I will prolly even be able to get it higher.
It's not just about cooling.
Voltage. Its also about voltage.
Voltage too high threatens the CPU. I don't know if that's a problem with an i7 though, all I own is an E8400.
No it isn't. It's mainly about cooling. Anyways I have 1250 watts of power. I don't get why some of you think overclocking is difficult...

I dare you to increase voltage (>0.3) on a cpu without even touching the clock speeds, come back in 6 months and tell us if it's still working.
