haddockd Wrote:Then why on earth does nearly everyone on this forum recommend overclocking to get full speed? It is practically a requirement for most games.

True. And that's an unfortunate reality. With that being said the fact that the application often needs OCing to run certain games at fullspeed doesn't matter. You still can't expect issues that only arise from OCing to be treated as valid issues. This is behavior that developers have no way to account for.

haddockd Wrote:As I have said a dozen times (if not more) NO other apps, games, emulators or anything has sound issues except Dolphin.

That has nothing to do with the fact that this application is encountering an issue.

haddockd Wrote:Besides I am not the only one with this problem

Once again. This is irrelevant.

lor Wrote:Mine still does it at stock, so obviously overclocking is not the universal cause.

Now this would make it a valid issue.

Haddockd you're absolutely sure it doesn't occur at stock?
I will be testing that shortly and posting the results here. Stay tuned Smile
I guess if you could compress the video using xvid or similar and upload it to somewhere like mediafire. As long as the file size is under say 200MB, that is fine.
Sure thing skid: uploading now. There will be three videos (numbered 1 - 3). The video quality will be ass to keep the file size down. The first video shows you how the static starts about 1.5 hours in (it actually starts when you run the game but it is only a single pop here and there, and in my opinion isn't a big deal until it grows). The second video is about 4 minutes later and you can tell the static is sort of building on itself. The third video is mostly static with doubling/echoing of the characters voice overs and some sound effects.

I would have liked it if you had recorded the game while it was in a window so that I could see the current FPS and the revision used. I assume you are using 3.5-1285 with LLE and LLE on thread?
Just tested ToS w/HLE audio with a 103 minute play session. Around the 90 minute mark, the audio did sound like it was trying to get all static-like, but after a few further minutes, it completely disappeared. The brief, minor static was nothing like what I encountered when playing Skies of Arcadia a few months back (I was on stock clocks then) which was quite severe. This was very muted, and I really had to turn the volume up to notice it. It got real noticeable once for all of a few seconds, but when I quit, I couldn't hear anything.

I forgot to look at my BIOS for exact model info and such, but I've a Z68 mobo from ASUS, voltage is around 1.2+ last time I checked. I'm not on the latest revision (too lazy to compile); I'm on 3.0-1067 atm.

Sorry skid. Both Dolphin and Fraps said I was getting full speed (30 fps on maps and 60 in battles). I was using the latest with LLE yes but I was not using LLE on thread. I find that it causes issues for me on a host of games so I quit using it.

I can make new vids that show you whatever you need. Just let me know Smile
If it would not be too much trouble, yeh, a similar number of videos of similar size but this time have the game rendered to its own window and have fraps record the window titlebar so that I can see the FPS. Also, let us know the name of the game (Baiten Kaitos?) and what audio backend you are using (OpenAL preferably). Please use the latest development version and do not enable the VBeam speed hack. Does running the game unthrottled make the static occur sooner?
Yes. Running the game unthrottled will make it happen much faster if memory serves. Would you like me to do that?

I was using XAudio but will switch to OpenAL per your request. I will do some reading on Fraps on how to add the title bar, cant imagine it will be difficult.

I will download the latest revision when I am able to run the test (likely tomorrow night). VBeam is not enabled. I will be using LLE (without LLE on thread).

The game is Baten Kaitos (U) GKBEAF.ini is the file if that helps.

Is it advisable not to use dsound and XAudio2 in the latest versions?
