I did. It gave me the Host and the channel, but I don't know what to do with that information. Mind helping me out?

For something simple, just use the Freenode webchat. Enter your desired nickname; the channel should be #dolphin-emu for general Dolphin talk/off-topic chat and #dolphin-dev for development related discussions.

Nope, the only thing the developers have ever taken is for hardware.
