Android is based on Linux :-P
But you missed one importend part: x86 is CISC, ppc+arm are RISC, so I think it's a bit easier to jit the ppc on an arm :-)
But you're right, most games just won't work
Quote:Basically, somebody took a Tegra 3 tablet and a Core 2 Duo at 1.6 GHz and ran tests.
http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2011/2/21/why-nvidiae28099s-tegra-3-is-faster-than-a-core-2-duo-t7200.aspx
Actually the article was debunking nVidia numbers about the Tegra 3. In the test, the
now seven year old C2D was underclocked, and running on only two cores, while the quad core Tegra 3 was running at max clock. Even in that scenario and the Tegra 3 only won by a hair. Which means that in per core performance, what dolphin cares about, the core 2 duo was double. And it was underclocked, so at fullspeed the Tegra 3 stood no chance. Also, the test was rigged flat out: the Tegra was running newer optimizations than the core 2 duo. When the underclocked Core 2 Duo was given the same optimizations, the C2D pulled ahead.
Honestly, it's a dumb comparison. Of course tablets and phones are going to conquer old desktop hardware if enough time passes. And you couldn't hope to run Dolphin on a 1.66ghz Core 2 Duo anyway.
Quote:A C2D at 1.6 GHz is only enough to run 2D games
You're funny . If that Core 2 duo does not pair with a dedicated GPU , even a core 2 duo @ 3.0GHz can't run Muramasa the demon blade (which is a 2D game) full speed
Even a Core i7 @ 1.6GHz can only hope to run that game like watching a slow-motion movie

I play Dolphin on my 1.4 ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook Air with Nvidia 320m...It's slow in most games, but perfectly playable in others, such as luigi's mansion.
My other Laptop has a 2.0 ghz Core 2 Duo, Windows 7, and a GeForce go 7900 gs...it runs SSBM and Luigi's Mansion at full speed. So not too far off, especially considering the snapdragon 600 runs circles around the tegra 3, geekbench is 2.5x higher
Alright, I'll be more specific. You can't hope to run Dolphin on a 1.66ghz Core 2 Duo at full speed, and tough to emulate games would be unbearable.
Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah. Back the truck up! Hold the fucking phone. Stop eveything you're doing.
I love Android, but it is by no means "lightweight". Android is a horribly written OS. Java? Really? Oh no, sorry "Delvik" Well that changes EVERYTHING! Android devices are grosely over speced for their performance. Most linux Distros are highly optimized and litweight. Android is by no means even close to light weight in comparrison to most LiveCd Distros.
I love Android, but I do not like it when people misconstrude what makes it a great OS.

I meant lightweight compared to Windows specifically. It may not be the fastest, but it certainly is more lightweight than Windows. By the way, Android is very well-written. You can't say you love Android and then say that it is horribly written.

The graphics in Dolphin are not completely GPU-dependent. More complex graphics = more GPU
and CPU instructions. Also, I'm sure you can Murumasa on a 3.0 GHz C2D at 50+ FPS with proper settings. I have a single core Pentium 4, and it runs NSMB Wii and SSBB at full speed. On a dual core, you should get nearly double the speed.

You're lying for sure . I had better CPU & GPU (Dual Core Pentium D @ 3.0GHz + Nvidia 9800GT ) . Those 2 games do not run full speed , not even close
Not mention you do not have a graphic card , you will have GPU bottleneck (GPU slowdown CPU -> lower FPS) even if you use lowest settings

Again . Unless you pair that C2D with a decent GPU , that won't happen . A fastest onboard GPU for Core 2 duo series : GMA X4500 does not meet Dolphin
GPU requirement

Got the OTA update to jelly bean for my HTC One S, gave it another shot, and it still didn't work.
Then I went to settings, developer settings, advanced, checked "Disable HW overlays (Always use GPU for screen compositing)" and now it works like a charm.
Got to the character select screen in Melee, then could not select a character due to no joystick. Just listening to the menu music on my phone is awesome though! 10-13 fps in starfield.dol too!
I'll try out some other games once I figure out a better way to put them on my phone, I still cannot believe the jelly bean update did away with mounting as a usb disk drive. Airdroid takes sooo long.

totaly agree , well let me say this i owned a C2D bevor and trust me it was way to slow to run the most Dolphin games now i own a Intel Core i5 with 3,5 Ghz and it runs the most games at full speed but still at games like WWE 13 they are some big slow downs.
so the most people here who write yeah i use the emulator on a intel pentium 4 are probley nuts , well i think since Android is written in Java it will be Difficult to run Dolphin fast anytime soon , look at the PSP Emulator even with my One S at 1,9 ghz the most games dont run at good speed.
