Hi, I am currently playing Xenoblade at 4x IR + 4x SSAA + 16x AF. I've noticed that there is some texture flickering in the background. Not very noticeable but still there. Is this an issue with resolution upscaling?
I am using the dolphin version with the HLE audio fix, not the latest build by the way.
Thanks
Where exactly in the game does it happen ─ could you record a video of it?
What back-end are you using?
You should try the latest builds and see if it still occurs there.
If you're concerned about the audio issues, try out the
new-ax-hle branch builds which is a (complete) rewrite of the DSP HLE. We've tested Xenoblade with it, and no one has encountered the audio issue thus far, so give it a go.
Try unchecking "Disable per-pixel depth" in the second tab of the graphics options. It is known to cause flickering textures in a few games.

I did what you suggested. Flickering stopped but the FPS also dropped. I am guessing per-pixel depth calculation is very gpu intensive as my gpu usage gone up to 99%. Unchecking that solves the problem but framerate tanked.
I've tried the new ax HLE build but didn't help with the flickering.
Yeah I'm not sure why Garteal recommended that since your issue has nothing to do with audio.
And yes per-pixel depth will increase gpu load. You should be able to counteract it by lowering your IR though.
I recommended that because he's using an ancient Dolphin build (3.0-xxx) which has the HLE hack applied to it for the sound issues Xenoblade has.
Delroth has done some amazing work on the new-ax-hle which renders that build obsolete.
The new builds have some great fixes applied to it as well that might increase your performance.
I wasn't aware that Disable Per Pixel Depth could cause flickering textures. (Never had it ticked)

I specifically stated that it was pointed towards the audio issues.
But he didn't mention any audio issues. That's why I was confused.

Thanks for the help guys. When I was trying out that new-ax-hle build, I don't think 4x SSAA is working properly. I retain the same setting that I used with the older dolphin version and the new-ax-hle build seems to have more jagged edges. Whereas when I switch back to the older version with the HLE hack, jaggies seem to be less prominent. Weird.

Just verified it and you're right. SSAA is still broken in Direct3D9.
If you want, you can try the other back-ends for anti-aliasing.
OpenGL also supports SSAA now in addition to MSAA (albeit only at 4x, more is too taxing anyway) and CSAA.
Direct3D11 supports MSAA only.
