I know dolphin is intensive and all but this is kind of ridiculous is it not? It might just be the build but I don't think I have ever seen Dolphin do this. No matter intensive the game might be.

Specs

I5 3570k 4.5ghz
2GB 6950
8GB 1600mhz DDR3

Not really. It's surprising to see much more than 75% on a 4 core cpu, but it doesn't really indicate a problem.
Holy crap... Ok then. Thank you

Which game(s)?
Do you have LLE on thread turned on?
Do you have openMP turned on?

If you have both turned off this is unusual. If you only have LLE on thread or openMP turned on (only one) than this is above normal but still possible. If you have both turned on than this is completely normal.
Game is tales of Symphonia

LLE Thread is off
OpenMP is on

So close OpenMP for less CPU usage?

OK so turning off OpenMP knocked the CPU usage down by 40%... Holy crap...
Yup. Poorly optimized multithreaded texture decoding can eat up a lot of cpu throughput.
I don't know about that. In my post, I discussed how the more recent builds are slower. It started to REALLY become noticeable in builds 3.5 1065 and newer.
slower yes, but the emulation is likely getting more accurate at the same time. unless they broke something.

People often ask why I leave OpenMP off, and it's always for this very reason. In my experience, it's more prone to eat CPU cycles than increase the speed or reduce micro-stuttering. Some games have it worse than others (Supe Mario Sunshine comes to mind), though others can deal with it (doesn't seem to do anything CPU usage-wise in Xenoblade Chronicles).
