Hi everyone,

Since we moved to dolphin-emu.org I've heard a few people complain about the download speed from our servers. Unfortunately I've never been able to diagnose this issue, but now I might have an idea and I need all of you to test something to confirm that idea is right.

Basically, what I need every one of you to do:

- Download http://dl.dolphin-emu.org/100mb.bin (you don't need to download all of it, just enough to check your average connection speed)
- If the download speed is less than what you'd expect with your internet connection, please give me the following information: the speed you got, the speed you expect, your country (and state if you're in the US), your ISP, and the result of a traceroute to dolphin-emu.org (see below if you don't know how to do a traceroute).

To make a traceroute, here is how you should proceed on Windows:

- Open a command window (Windows+R, "cmd")
- Type "tracert dl.dolphin-emu.org" (without the quotes)
- Wait for the tracert to stop printing stuff
- Copy paste or upload a screenshot where all the tracert output is visible

On OSX and Linux: open a shell, type "traceroute dl.dolphin-emu.org", copy-paste all the traceroute output.

I'm also interested in the average download speed you get for http://dolphin-emu.org/m/user/100mb.bin if you have some time to try.

Download Speed: Averaged around 4.50MB/s. Very nice.
Expected Download Speed: Around 4MB/s to 5MB/s is what I expect. So it's all good for me.

I actually failed when typing the host for the traceroute, could you traceroute to dl.dolphin-emu.org instead? (these are 2 different servers in 2 different countries...) I'll also make a 100MB file to download.

Download Speed: Averaged around 1300 KB/s
Expected: Usually a little under 2 MB/s for general stuff of the internet. For Steam and battle.net updates I'm usually between 2.5 and 2.75 MB/s

Noted. If I remember correctly, Steam and Battle.net updates compress the data sent over the network and display the rate in uncompressed bytes/s, so they're not really a good indicator though.

Garteal, Xalphenos: could you tell me what your average download speed is for http://dolphin-emu.org/m/user/100mb.bin ?

Holy. That brought me up to 5.50MB/s on average. I nearly reached 6MB/s.

It did speed up but only by 150KB/s on average. Peeked 1500KB/s for a few seconds. I didn't realize that about Steam and battle.net. I always assumed they just had stellar servers. Ok so a better comparison than, i hope, I avarage 2MB/s but never droping below 2000KB/s downloading the latest Ubuntu iso. So I wouldn't say the download speed is bad here just a little less than what is expected.

I am averaging around 200 KB/s, cycling between 100-300. I had two spikes up to 1.3 and 1.8 MB/s, but that dropped down within a few seconds, otherwise highest speed i got was 400 KB/s. There was also a number of times where it stopped entirely for a bit.

I am in NJ, USA, my ISP is cabelvision, and expected speeds would be ~4.5 MB/s.

1mb/s dl... seems fine to me.

my max on my connect is like 3mb/s but i was taking alot of HOOPS.
