I'll have to try with my laptop disc drive. It's a DVD-ROM drive but I'm not sure of the exact make and model, although it is on a HP EliteBook 8570w laptop. My other games were all dumped with the help of a friend's computer but I know I've not dumped them all, just the ones I play frequently.
This basically doesn't work with currently available DVD drives. Not even sure if you can get the older ones it works on anymore (or if the software works with current OSes?)
I should ask to see if we should lock this thread
EDIT: the only tested drives I can find available are more expensive than a damn wii lmao
This guide and the software and hard are all quite outdated now, IMO. It's a relic of years gone by. Relevant 10 years ago? Sure. Today? Not so much. A real Wii is cheaper, more available, and far less prone to error. Hacking a Wii is also exceedingly easy and nowadays virtually fool-proof.
I agree, it's probably time we archived this old thread. It's served its purpose well enough. I'll let some of the other Forum Staff chime in though, if anyone else sees a reason to leave this thread as-is.
I agree, the options to dump games without a homebrewed Wii are all gone. Archive away!
