That's a big maybe. A lot of pirates do it for free games, but not all. Some pirates do it to get games not available in their country or continent without having to buy a whole new console. Or games which are sold for hundreds, like Dokapon Kingdom in the UK. Or games which only sold few copies. Only a few pirates actually pirate games because they don't want to softmod their console or potentially break their discs. Although this doesn't make it any less illegal
Confirmed not working on SlimtypeDVD DA8A6SH GAA2. This is the drive in my laptop, came stock, though if I put another drive in it could work. Who knows.
How can I tell if my laptop has a faulty driver? I just got my new laptop a couple of days ago.

I tried using Rawdump 2.1 to dump Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness so that I can play it without the Invalid read/write to 0x.... errors but it say I may have a faulty driver when I run the program.
Your drive probably isn't supported, most aren't.
So I just got a Hitachi-LG GDR-8160B drive off ebay. The drive was manufactured in May of 2002. The revision is A0. It's also an IBM OEM Drive.
Here are some pictures of the drive.

Do you guys think it'll work?
As it turns out my drive's firmware version is 0009. Has anyone had success on this firmware version?
Why do you keep waiting for responses when you could just try the drive yourself? It's unlikely that anybody else has the same drive model you do.
Does anyone know of currently commercially-available drives which are supported? Alternatively, any clever ideas on how to get the documentation needed to support new drives? I have a bunch of old gamecube games and would ideally like to find a way to transfer images to my PC.
