Not with multiplayer . Dolphin - Multiplayer is very demanding no matter what game you play
I against the i7 3770k suggestion since it's not much better than i5 3570k in Dolphin but it cost much higher and you have to overclock both i5 and i7 to achieve decent speed in the end . Btw , if he have to buy Z77 mobo and aftermarket cooler for the i5 3570k then why not wait for Haswell and new mobo ?

We need him to confirm that

I really don't think he should spend hundreds of dollars on a cpu upgrade that will only net him a small increase now when if he just waits a couple of months he'll see a much larger jump in performance for the same amount of money.
I guess, but that larger jump in performance won't really be noticeable (unless he does some really CPU intensive stuff) - although it's OC'd I have no problem playing SSBB 4-player without lag on my Sandy Bridge i5.

WOW! thanks for the discussion Smile

1. I would prefer to not wait until next year, but I'm not yet completely against it.
2. would the Ivy i-5 (3570k) and Win 7 x64 give me NOTICEABLY better emulation speeds?
3. Is the x64 ubuntu build worth checking out?

4. did some testing today, and it's character specific lag based on graphical appearance. eg. Mario=1/5 for lag and Lucario=7/5 for lag (Just a side note fyi Shy)

3570k is currently the best choice for Dolphin

i5 4670k @ 3.8GHz ~ i5 3570k @ 4.2GHz ~ i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz
Not noticeable ?

You would only have to wait until the summer.
