But you haven't done it before removing the alternative.Why?

How about using MSI afterburner to monitor Frame time?

It can be done in real time, I use this to monitor my frametimes when playing CPU intensive online games like Battlefield Bad Company 2. And it pretty accurately shows spikes in frametime that result in microstuttering

MSI Afterburner overlay doesn't support Dolphin (or vice versa?). FPS graph.

Overclocking the GPU won't improve the performance in Dolphin.
But it's works for PC games and PCSX2.
Dolphin =! PC games/other emulators.
Yes, i know. But I don't know why you mentioned overclocking, i didn't say a word about it.
This is off-topic. so let's end it.
MSI Afterburner is an overclocking tool, but BONKERS suggested using it to monitor frame rate, not to overclock...

EXACTLY. Add Dolphin to the On Screen display server's list of executables and enable monitoring. There is 0 reason it shouldn't work.

Afterburner lets you monitor the current framerate and the amount of time it is taking for frames to render in ms, while in game via an overlay like fraps.
Checking the graph in the main afterburner window will also let you see it plotted on a graph in real time. And will show spikes in frametime that show microstuttering.
