For what reason..
They just told you. It reduces microstuttering in some titles. I honestly can't think of an effective way to measure that though. I notice it in some games though.
Also somebody reported it boosting fps in the intro in the legend of zelda: four sword adventures. But I don't have that game so hopefully somebody else will test that.
skid reported speedups in NSMBW with OpenMP texture decoding enabled.

This. Until the OpenCL texture decoder provides a noticeable speed-up over the default texture decoder (probably by using the newest version of OpenCL) then it's pretty pointless having it right now. The effects of OpenMP on games should be better measured so we have an idea of its benefits. So far, I've only heard of a few games that get speed boosts (Metroid Prime, LoZ:FSA, now NSMB). Personally, I've only noticed micro-stuttering once, and OpenMP didn't help one bit :p Every time else I've used OpenMP, my CPU usage just goes up without boosting the speed.

Yes, I will look into Hashless again sometime in the future.
I've been using OpenMP on my run through of Prime 3 to try to help with the severe stuttering problems. It's sort of like using a bandaid to heal a slit wrist, but uh, every little bit helps?

^This, a thousand times this.
I really don't think that Billiard would remove his own feature...

I think the best way to measure microstutter is to measure number of ms it takes to render a frame, and finding the 99th percentile of it after 10000 frames or so.
