Emulators for those consoles are likely to stay poorly threaded for a while after they're first started, and by that time there'll hopefully be a reasonable amount of 8 threaded consumer software Intel will want to support.

(02-11-2013, 07:00 AM)NaturalViolence Wrote: [ -> ]There are a decent number of games that simply can't be run at fullspeed on any AMD cpu at any obtainable clock rate. Just from my own collection I have SMG, SMG2, the last story, okami, certain areas in the MP games, etc.Maybe there are a few games, which doesnt run perfect on AMD CPU´s but saying, AMD CPU´s arent worth buying, because Dolphin doesnt run too good on it, that would just say "Buy a 500€ machine to run a machine worth 100€ or less". Its not only Dolphin , AMD may be not as powerfull as Intel, but on most tasks, AMD can show Intel who´s boss (Not mentioning the overpriced Intel CPU´s, AMD´s high end CPU costs roughly 200€ now, so please dont say, a 300€ CPU from Intel is still better than AMD.
Regardless of this though Intels cpus run dolphin better than AMDs at every price point so there is really no reason to buy AMD cpus for a machine running dolphin, period. So I stand buy my advice.
Déjà vu I guess

A $200 Intel cpu will beat a $200 AMD cpu. And so on. I said this in my previous post so I don't know why you're ignoring it.List of games, what my AMD Phenom II x4 @ 3.6GHz could run at playable speed:
I dont ignore it, but i just said, that AMD CPU´s can outperform Intel CPU´s till the mark of 100€ (or $) is reached. Maybe not in Dolphin, but when you think about it, having a 100€($) CPU from AMD, which can run almost every game (or lets say around 95%, because all the little games are pretty much playable) with full speed is not a false statement. My Old AMD could run every game i played with full speed (List below) except Mario Galaxy, which was stuck at around 70~90%.
2. The OP of this thread is complaining about not getting the level of performance he wanted with dolphin. He asked what he could do to remedy this situation. I therefore gave him the advice that he should probably steer clear of AMD cpus in the future if he wants to avoid this happening to him again. Thereby implying that the only thing he could do to get better performance is to get better hardware. All of this is true.
I agree, but when the enduser, who is buying the hardware, wants to do other stuff with the PC too, the statement with "stay away from AMD" is just completly wrong. I know this is a Forum for this emulator, but still, its just wrong. maybe its just me
3. Due to point #1 that I made if you purchase AMD cpus you are purchasing a product which is inferior for dolphin. So it's pretty obvious which one we recommend for running dolphin on these forums.
I agree, but #2 of me maybe clears, what i want to say in a nutshell.
4. Spending $500 on hardware needed to emulate a $100 console as you put it is a reality that is unavoidable. I'm still not sure why you brought that up.
Because when he ONLY, and ONLY wants to emulate the Wii on his computer, just buy a console and do whatever to play your... *copys* on this console. But suggesting a machine worth 500€($) or more, just to emulate a console, which is worth 100€($) or less is not a very good suggestion. Its no secret, why almost every person who is downloading a emulator, dont has a console. And dont come with the "but an emulator has better graphics" statement. I belive in you with that statement... sure thing.
