If you knew what you were doing, there would be no 'in this situation'. XBox controllers work better than any other mainstream gamepad for Dolphin, as long as they're set up properly.

If you need to use both the joystick and dpad at the same time, ps controllers are objectively the best (or any other with the joystick on bottom). With an x360 controller you need to either use your pointer finger on the joystick, which is uncomfortable, and really imprecise, or cross your pointer finger across the controller, which gives you more precision, but is incredibly awkward to do. With a ps controller, you just move your pointer finger down to the dpad, and leave your thumb on the joystick.

Anyway I'll agree with you using one of the joysticks in place of the pointer is awkward and is frankly a pain in the butt. The PS3 controller is marginally better however if you need to use the Wii's pointer for some reason, but want to use a controller I strongly advise you or anyone for that matter to simply use the mouse in conjunction with the controller.(04-18-2013, 08:44 AM)AnyOldName3 Wrote: [ -> ]If you knew what you were doing, there would be no 'in this situation'. For any other time, both are more or less equal. You're just being silly if you think either is significantly better than the other. It's purely a matter of preference which is (slightly) better.

Shonumi Wrote:Personally, I greatly favor PS style controllers because of this (I also like having my thumbs in the same position for each joystick).I don't see why people like it - to be honest. Whenever I hold it I feel like I'm holding it the wrong way, but when I hold my Xbox 360 controller it fits properly like it should. I guess it is more personal preference than anything.

Demon's souls is another where you may need to use all three at once, since the game doesn't pause ever, and you may need to change armor while running from enemies. Basically any game that allows you to move while navigating menus will sometimes require you to use both joysticks and the dpad all at once.RachelB Wrote:With a ps controller, you just move your pointer finger down to the dpad, and leave your thumb on the joystick.
