I ran punch out on 2.5 at very playable speeds on my amd. I was running about 3.8 at the time. The newer versions of dolphin are more demanding, nature of programming life cycle. If you have a slower cpu ( which you do ) try an older version.

which version? i've tried so many
This game is too slow for me - 60% most of the time. Anyway to speed it up?
Settings?

Default
Although it usually looks very "light" this game is really demanding

Demanding in a manner that heavily suggests towards a bug in Dolphin, not "just how the game is". With recent revisions I get 100% speed during 2-player mode except during pre-round and in between rounds. The game has no business dropping and locking to 40-something FPS during a sequence that is ostensibly less demanding than the rest of the game.

This 100% speed thing is a recent development, I had tested this game periodically always with the latest revision through the past few years, and never reached 100% speed with horrible settings even for an instant during 2-player mode, often not even past 60%
I get disconnects of my Wiimote randomly within matches, usually after a round, too. Anyone know how to alleviate this?
Use a recent version of the emulator. Yours is too old (and from a wrong source btw :p)
I do, I have the most recent SVN. In fact, the older version I had disconnected less.
