I've been looking to buy a new laptop, and I could use some help figuring out which graphics cards would be able to handle Dolphin well. Unless I'm reading it wrong, the "Minimum specs - video card" thread only covers desktop GPUs, so I've been having some trouble comparing various cards.

How well, for example, would a Radeon 7650M handle Dolphin, in terms of IR, anti-aliasing, etc.? Are there other specific cards I should be looking for?

(Note that I'm planning to get a laptop with either an i5 or an i7).
The 7650M should be able to handle 2x IR (720p). Nothing more.
I disagree. It should be able to handle 3x.
You're wrong, sorry.

The 7650M is under "Class 2" on the bottom. The GeForce GT 540M for example (2.5x IR) is stronger than the 7650M. Tongue
Ah, DDR3, that's why. I miscalculated.

Though in future I would avoid using that list as if it means anything if I were you. That list was compiled based on extremely limited/poor datasets and is based on PC game performance. We have seen many examples of GPUs that perform better on PC games perform worse on dolphin, and vice versa.
Thanks for the help, guys. What about a Radeon 7730M or a GeForce 640M? Would they be better, or about the same?
AMD 7730M DDR3 : 2.5xIR , no AA , 16x AF
Nvidia GT 640M : 3xIR ,no AA or 2x MSAA, 16x AF

Select GPU in the list below (techpowerup.com) , look at "memory bandwidth"
