My screen flashes about once every 10 seconds regardless of what game I am playing. Through research I found that the Real XFB option usually fixes this but under graphics in my Dolphin the XFB option isn't there.
I tried finding the .ini file for my game and enabling this rule at the end:
[Video_Settings]
UseXFB = True
UseRealXFB = True
For example, I tried this in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door. When I searched all the .ini files the names of the games were either "Paper Mario" or "Super Paper Mario". None of them specifically said that they are for the thousand year door but I added the code into all available paper mario games.
Am I just finding the wrong .ini files?
and is there any way I can get the Use Real XFB option to show up on my Dolphin?
I use Windows 7 home premium x64, Dolphin 3.0 x64, GeForce 9800 GX2, 4 gb ram, Intel 2 Quad CPU q9650 @ 3.00 GHz
Thanks for the help
If you're using frame Skipping in the "emulation" drop down menu, some games will flicker.
Here's the XFB (External Frame Buffer) option:

I have tried enabling both options, and disabling the XFB. I have frame skipping set to 0. Is there anything else that would cause ALL of my games to flash black every 10 seconds?
Anyone know why this would be happening?
You might want to post all of your Dolphin settings so we can take a look at them. Click the Config button and look at the General tab. Click the Graphics button and look at the General, Enhancements, and Hacks tabs. That should be all of the most common settings. Also, tell us which games you're having issues with. You've mentioned the Paper Mario games, but does this occur in some games, but not others, or are all of your games like this?

Here are my current Dolphin settings with all 4 of the requested tabs.
This issue is happening on ALL 4 of my games. Wind Waker, Paper Mario, HM: AWL, and Eternal Darkness. To clarify what the issue is - Each game runs perfectly except approximately once every 20 - 30 seconds the entire screen will briefly turn black and return to normal. Sometimes it will only flash one time in 5 minutes, and sometimes it will flash almost every 10 seconds. This happens in both full screen and when Dolphin is windowed. On the occurences that it does only flash every 5 minutes, I change nothing and eventually it will pick up and start flashing more often.
Please help me figure out this problem. No other thread I have searched has had a problem like this. I can live with the once-every-five-minutes but if it flashes twice under a minute it becomes really cumbersome on my eyes, therefore rendering my gaming experience to zero enjoyment.
Your settings look fine to me. Another question, does this behavior affect the DX9, DX11, and OpenGL backends? I see you've got DX9 set; try DX11 or OGL and see if that makes a difference.

Also, disable External Framebuffer. The four games that you have mentioned doesn't need it, and maintaining XFB enabled will make your games run at lower resolutions (even if you choose a higher IR value)
Shonumi, I tried running each game on DX9, DX11, and OpenGL but the problem still occurs.
My V-Sync and XFB are already off, but still the problem happens no matter what backend I have set.
Any other potential solutions?
