Ive upgraded to full 1080 and I have to admit Dolphin devs are great as it runs pretty much the same as when I tried 1024x786
Might Dolphin 4.0 iimprove speed? (remember this thread was made in 2012)

Hmm the best setting thread seem to have been deleted. I open Dolphin 4 and SSBM runs horrible compared to SVN 1590 and 3.0-865-dirty
Things will go either better or worse. Depends on what are you expecting to do...

That told the OP nothing :\

OpenGL should be the fastest backend now, especially on Nvidia hardware with the Vertex Streaming Hack. From my own personal experience, most "average" games (between light and demanding games) haven't really become more demanding in my tests, but then again my CPU is better than yours for Dolphin, so I might not slowdowns where you would. If you have any specific games in mind, we can give you better info, since only a case-by-case analysis will really give you any suitable answers.
For any CPU below OC'ed 2500K it's better to stick with 3.5-xxx, better some build before HLE DSP rewrite, if game works perfectly with older revisions.
