Heya, I used to play this with some friends and we were able to get past the wiimote issue but we were reliant on save states which the host would send to everyone after each desync, but eventually the desyncs were so frequent we gave up. Tried to get this working again with newer dolphin and we had some success in getting the game going easier but we still seem to have desync issues and no way to save or load any more. Sounds like there isn't any really great solution or anything yet but I was hoping kidkilla could share some more details with me.

So, how are you handling saving and loading? do you get lots of desyncs? any chance you could post some screenshots of various settings or something? Basically if you aren't having frequent desyncs and are able to load games reliably then please, give me every bit of info you can cause I badly want to play this game with some friends. Oh also, any info on dolphin settings as well, I really don't know what I'm doing too much with any of it, so knowing what kinda settings to use for various menus and all that would help. Dokapon Kingdom is the only game I'm really wanting to play on dolphin right now so I'm willing to set absolutely everything specifically for that one game if it will let me play online with friends.
If you want to be able to load and save, use 5.0-2413 or newer. If you want to avoid Wii Remote desyncs, you'll have to use 5.0-2441 or older for now, but this will hopefully be fixed soon. How to set up the Wii Remotes correctly for netplay is a bit messy, and I'm probably not the best person for describing it.
Hmm. I was trying with 5.0-2413. We were able to host, make characters and get playing but saving during the game and then having a random crash (wiimote disconnected... crash) didnt allow us to load after. Is there a setting I/we need to change before we can properly save/load in netplay? I was able to make a single player save and then send my save files to my friend who was than able to see my single player save which i was then able to load in multiplayer, but we can't figure out how to save in multiplayer and then load said save.
Matey I will post some more information and screenshots when I get home tonight. Desyncs rarely ever happen with my setup so hopefully I can get things working for you too.
Sweet! I will check back later and follow all your setup instructions. I'm getting pretty excited at the hope of being able to play this online with even some reliability!
Just as a note for the future, 5.0-2489 fixed the bug with Wii Remotes, so using the most recent development version should be fine from now on.
But is there a way I can save and load multiplayer games with the latest version? Do I have to set up SD cards or anything?

Yes, it's possible. Make sure that the save files are identical for each player, then enable "Write save/SD data" (for saving) and "Copy Wii save" (for loading) in the netplay window. You don't need to do anything with SD cards (unless this game uses SD cards in some way that I don't know of, but games generally don't let you save progress to an SD card). Keep "Insert SD Card" in the general config disabled unless you're sure you need an SD card.
Woo. Did some more testing with the 5.2517 build and better knowledge of how to config and it seems like its working smoothly. got saving and loading working proper without having to send files to each other or anything else. Getting some other friends set up and then we will have a go with 4 player. I'll post here again later once we have played some to let people know if we run into desyncs or any other issues. Hopefully it'll be smooth though. Thanks for the tips and responses!
OK, so. I have three friends I am trying to play this with. The game is working perfectly when I test it with two of them individually, but the third person gets desynced as soon as we launch every single time. He has done fresh installs of the same version (5.0-2517) as the rest of us with the exact same configuration settings as the rest of us. The game works fine if he launches it offline but if he tries to play with any of us, instantly desynced. We went through various guides about changing settings and all that including deleting his folder in documents and redo-ing all the settings and also getting the .iso from one of us to make 100% it was the same as the rest of us... We are out of ideas. Got any suggestions?

Only difference I can really think of between his set up and ours is that he is using his keyboard as his controller rather than an actual controller like the rest of us... but I don't see why that would be a problem, we also used to play in the past back on a 4.0 release but gave up at the time due to frequent desyncs (though we at least were able to play back then, we were just using save and load state and transfering the state files around which was a huge hassle which led us to stop when desyncs were too frequent).

EDIT: Fixed the problem. he had nunchuck enabled in his wii-mote setting which ruined everything.
