With i5 3570k @ 4.2GHz , you can play the most demanding game - The Last Story full speed most of the time
Without overclocking , most games should run full speed
That's right. Multi-threaded applications can use all of processor cores (like ffmpeg), unlike Dolphin that can only use 2 or 3 cores.

@killown: YES! Watercooling is the right choice, if you want to overclock your CPU heavily. The Corsair Hydro series cool very good

Very good choice my friend. The Mainboard is also good.

Overpriced

He could get them at microcenter (120 + 170 = 290$ compare to 335$ newegg)
Watercooling is not necessary , Cooler Master 212 Evo is good enough to overclock that beast to 4.4GHz
If i was him , i would buy Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 (105$) instead of that Asus mobo . Asrock Z77 E4 can overclock well , it has more feature and it's best bang for your bucks
Asrock related to Asus in the past
Again that 212 Evo cooler

Anyway, I'd go for the Thermaright HR-02 Macho, if I want air cooling.

I'd like to get 5ghz

5GHz are hard to reach, because you need much Vcore. Too much Vcore = not healthy for the CPU.
Not really, if you overclock the Core i5-3570k, the performance will be almost the same.
