your a bit confuse on amps let me explain.

Amps are drawn not supplied. Think of electricity like water. When you open the value water flows. Same with current ( why do you think its called current Wink). So you need to know the amps that are drawn and supply a match. If your supply is rated at 800 ma and you pull an amp your supply will not last long. So its best to go over but stay with in range. In theory you can supply 10 amps and only pull 100ma and still be ok but I dont recommend it. So what you need to know is what that bar is pulling.

Nintendo is not going to give that info out so one would have to put a amp meter on it and see. The easier way is to count it yourself. You need to know what that resistor is rated at with 10 leds. I dont remember my value, but I also didnt have 10 leds ( I think ).

there is no easy answer here. It may be best to figure out what a usb port puts out by default since that seems to work fine. If you goo to high the Power supply will get hot and melt, if you go too low the power supply will burn up internally.
This is looking like it would almost be easier to dismantle and measure my 10 LED genuine nintendo bar... which will then mean I have to do some calculations, and basically give you instructions about what to do.

Wow, thank you AnyOldName3. That's some amazing generosity. I didn't realise how much hassle it would be to add a different power supply. Thank you very much for helping me do this so I don't blow my nice black official sensor bar or burn down my house.
Step one: Find a screwdriver and multimeter.
Step two: realise Wii Bars have tri-lobed screw-heads.

Step 3: Find a tri-lobed bit.

4: Realised it doesn't fit, so make a new one out of a brass rod.

5: Destroy homemade screwdriver bit because apparently the plastic the Wii bar is made from is stronger than brass.

6: Apologise on the forums for these complications, and explain that I will be unable to even open my bar, let alone start measuring things.
ah that is right I had to buy one off ebay for that.
Yeah, I didn't realise they had different screws until it arrived in the post. Thanks for trying.
