While playing I got a message accompanied with the "error ding" noise. It happened during a transition from a cut scene to game play, it read something along the lines of "invalid read - line xxxxxxxxxxxxx"
I can't remember the actual line numbers. I clicked "ok" and the message changed to another line code. I clicked about 15 or 20 times and the code would change each time. After the last click the game just started to run like nothing happened so I'm assuming it was just a bad section of code. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue before, I'm running Dolphin 5.0 stable.
Been running RE4 on dolphin and it is AMAZING! Looks so good compared to my actual wii.

I do, however, run into some slowdowns now and then while playing. My rig is pretty decent so I dont think that's the problem.

Currently I'm using the HD textures, Direct3D 12 backend, and at 1440p resolution with 2x MSAA with the CPU override at 400%. (didnt notice much of a difference from 100 to 400 but w/e)

Is there a better backend to use for this game? What is the consensus on settings for smoothest play?

Thanks!

Firstly, download the latest beta/development version from here. Do not use the 5.0 stable version as it is more than 5 years old.

Now, we don’t know what your rig is. Your profile says you have “amd” CPU and “nvidia” GPU. You need to specify the model number as well in your profile. For example just “amd” can mean both “AMD Athlon XP 1500” or “AMD Ryder 5900X”.

As for the slowdown, you can try the following:-
  • Make sure “async ubershaders” and “compile shaders before start” is checked.
  • Go to the Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage  3D Settings > Program settings tab > Create a profile for Dolphin if one doesn’t already exists > set “Power management mode” to “Prefer maximum performance”.

You can try Vulkan backend.
Ok I don't know why the formatting on my reply got so messed up....

Here's what it just should have said:

Thanks for the reply! Sorry, my computer is a AMD 3800x, 16g ram @3800mhz and an Nvidia RTX 3090.

I'm currently using the the latest beta version.

I am using Exclusive Ubershaders with "compile shaders before starting". I will try switching to Vulkan on my next play session.

I was also looking for any way to run it at 60 fps, in hopes it might help smooth it out. I saw there is a "patch" to play the gamecube version at 60fps, any luck for the wii version?

Thanks again for your help!

Menus green, and in-game purple, as can be seen in the images. Only happening in this game it seems. Any ideas on what's causing them and how to eliminate them?

Dolphin 5.0-13792
Vulkan backend(tried others as well)
3x native resolution(tried native as well)

I am also having the same problem on 5.0-15105, opengl, native and 3x, custom textures on and off.  it goes away briefly if you hit the home button, but comes back pretty soon after that

Open Dolphin > Right click on the icon of the game in games list > Properties > Verify > Verify Integrity
And then, post the screenshot of the results here.

I realized I had been using an .nkit which I thought might have been a factor, so I also checked a clean .iso but it still had the colored pixels at the bottom
Have you tried using different graphical backends like Direct3D and Vulkan?
Also make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date.
Speaking about controller I was wondering if dolphin has added the possibility to map paddles or back buttons as they were normal buttons. It would be game changing have those extra buttons to improve the controls quality of those games that heavily rely on motions controls (like RE4)
