I got the same problem with Contra Rebirth right now... both games needed dual core disabled but it doesn't seem to help anymore...
Can confirm, disabling dual core still causes the game to crash after the start menu.

In order to work you need to disable "defer EFB Copies to RAM" and "Store EDB Copies to Texture Only".
Hmm, Defer EFB Copies to RAM is greyed out for me for some reason? Is there a ini setting for it? Couldn't find any.

It should only be greyed out if Store EFB Copies to Texture Only is enabled.

The game INI setting is [Video_Hacks] DeferEFBCopies = False

Aaah, I'm stupid. But anyway, ini setting is much better because for most games I like to have Store EFB Copies to Texture Only enabled.
It works now, for Contra Rebirth also!
