I thought I should mention that PR 2960 seems to have fixed all of the bugs I mentioned earlier. I can't replicate the swapped textures in 4.0-7717 anymore. Big Grin
Hello, I have a question on if it is possible to use a USB as a "memory card" in order to split screen with a character from another PC.

My cousin and I have been thinking of switching over to Dolphin to play PSO instead of GC, but we are looking into thing before making the jump. The big thing we are wondering is if it is possible to use a USB as a "memory card" so that we would be able to play and level our characters at our own homes, and thing bring a USB with our characters to the other persons house to splitscreen. However, we don't really know how to use Dolphin, so we don't know if this is possible, and all of our searches haven't really been able to answer this question.

So is it possible to do this, and if it is does PSO handle this well?

If this type of question doesnt belong here, I'm sorry, as this is the only place i could think of to ask as it is somewhat related to pso
Yes, you can place your memory cards wherever you want, and you can copy them too.
You'll need to rename and copy the memory card file (e.g. MemoryCardA.USA.raw -> MemoryCardB.USA.raw) from the guest's flash drive to the host's PC so that you can load both saves into the same Dolphin instance (and then copy and rename the save back to the guest's flash drive when you're done), but you could do that. The only catch is that you must use characters from the same disc region to do this. If you have a regular US disc while your friend has a regular JP disc, for instance, then your characters are incompatible and you can't play splitscreen. You could still play online, though, and you'd have a better experience if you played online together, anyway, as then you'd both get your own screen with the full HUD, menu, performance, and the ability to play quests.

Ah, interesting that the online works with Dolphin. We, would be splitscreening tho since we hang out usually once a week, and have 4 people.

But thank you for the response. Its great to know that this works.
Well, a new problem has arose.

I launched PSO for the first time, and everything went smooth, since I looked into the black screen issue, the setting the date issue, as well as the zoom in issue unless you use opengl. The one thing that did happen is that it said that my memory card was corrupt, but I just wrote it off as a issue through emulation, and just hit "format." Got to the main menu just fine. However, I had forgotten to set my controls, so I closed down PSO and went to handle it.

Got my controller configured, so I booted back up PSO, and my PC hardlocked nearly instantly. Not even a bluescreen, it just straight up hardlocked, resulting in me having to remove my power cable from my pc to solve it. So after rebooting my PC i thought I would give it another go. Again, instant hardlock. So i completely removed everything related to dolphin, even the folder created in my documents so I could have a fresh install of it to see if it would hardlock again. Booted up PSO, and the game ran just like it did the initial time I ran it before the hardlock. Then I went to options in PSO and backed out, and upon leaving options to the main menu, my PC hardlocked again before the main menu even loaded.

I can only think that it has something to do with my "memory card" as it only seemed to crash once the PSO data was made.

I also have screenshots of what my dolphin graphic settings were, in case that can some way help.

Hardlocking is usually a hardware related issue. What kind of 'hardlock' is it? Do you hear a sound loop?
If you don't hear a sound loop, try to press CAPS LOCK or NUMLOCK when it happens and see if the buttons light up to verify if your system has crashed entirely.

It might take some time to troubleshoot what the exact cause is, but first things first; have you had any problems with your setup before?
Also what PSU do you have (including brand and model)?

And you shouldn't pull out the power cable just like that. If you hold down the power button for a few seconds it'll turn off too.

Also it might be better to move this somewhere else as this has nothing to do with PSO.
can you still only connect to private servers using a wired connection? and what private servers are still active?

I am also getting Crashing at dns server?

EDIT: It doesn't crash if I turn off dual core and I found a working server Smile
You don't need to disable dual core for PSO; your crashing is probably because OpenVPN's TAP adapter doesn't work right under Windows 10. As far as servers go, Sylverant, L33tserver, and Izakaya are the main ones remaining.
Is there any other TAP services that work better with windows 10? My buddy and I cant play together because it crashes every time we connect to each other.
