You can corrupt directly if Dolphin crashes while the memory card file is open for writing. I've gotten this once (so far). You can also corrupt indirectly if you get hit with some game bug that breaks your character; I got hit with not one but two of the Challenge bugs and got one of my Technique levels reset along with my material counter. I had to revert to a backup to fix it.
Even without corruption, you must always have backups when playing online, as the Endless Warp bug will eat your items sooner or later (that, and random quest loading crashes). Double Save FSOD was caused by malicious players crashing your game on purpose, and thankfully most such bad actors got bored with PSO a long time ago and have left to torment the users of newer games. It's also worth noting that (some) private servers have protection to block some of the malicious cheats used so often on the official servers.
Good to know, I will continue to make backups then.
I managed to get some pictures of the graphics problem with the white box behind the start menu, as described in my previous post:

Below are the settings being used to run PSO:

I am going for the best possible visual quality, so if there is something I have missed, please let me know. I am assuming that OpenGL is still the best backend for PSO, but I'll try D3D and see what happens.
I can't replicate it, so I guess it's a regression in the latest development versions.
Thank you for your efforts. I have decided to let it be for the time being. The funny thing is that when I turned on D3D, and received a drop in performance, then switched back to OGL, the white box was completely gone and the menu became normal. However, on my next boot into the game, it was back to being a white box, and has stayed as such. Anyways...
Some games have codes for forced 60 fps for smoother visuals, any possible way to have this incorporated to PSO? I have reviewed the existing codes available on various sites and did not come across one like this.
Also, I like to run the game at higher speeds such as 110% to 120%. I know this is an unlikely possibility, but I will ask just incase... Is there any way to speed up the gameplay, without speeding up the BGM?
And it's a exciting day for me, as I just figured out how to add any keyboard as an input device for PSO! I thought you needed a dedicated keyboard, but you can just add your main input device as the keyboard under controllers tab. Just putting it out there in case anyone else missed it as well. But one question Aleron, how did you manage to re-map the shift+key presses without affecting the original key? For example, "2" works correctly but "shift+2" returns a quote symbol instead of @. I keep re-reading your original post earlier in the thread and do not really understand that part enough.

Maybe it's a side effect of the widescreen hack, or something. You would have to try default settings to see if it still happens.

PSO is a slow-paced game that wouldn't really benefit from 60 FPS, and changing the framerate would mess up in-game timers, so it's a bad idea.

Nope. You also can't do that online, as you'll desync against other players who play at normal speed.

I didn't. You have to get used to the different shifted states of the Japanese layout, because Dolphin won't let you bind shifted and unshifted states separately. All I did was remap the semicolon and apostrophe keys so that I could type those more easily than is possible with the default Japanese layout. I also mapped left control to right control so that I could do lobby animations with either key, as PSO by default only lets you emote with the left control key.
Hello, I've a problem with Dolphin 5.0 & PSOI&II
I've a blackscreen avec agree hunter licence and set de in time clock, I've try OpenGL/Directx11/12 but the problem still persist.

Hello I've encountered a problem with opening PSO EP 1 and 2. everything works fine (Sound, graphics speed, etc.) up until after the opening movie and when the character creation screen opens, upon creating a character the VPS drops from 85%-100% to 1%-2% and has a major lag.
I'm currently using Dolphin Ver. 5.0 6x and the specs of my computer are as follows:
Processor: Intel® Core i3-2370M 2.40GHz
Ram: 4GB
System Type: 64 bit Operating System
Videocard: Intel® HD Graphics Family 3000
I've tried searching possible solutions online but can't seem to find any. It would be of great help if you guys can offer a solution. Thanks!

Hello, savestates are still a no-no for PSO right ? Is there a way to disable them on this game ? (undocumented gameconfig switch maybe ?) I'm always fearful of accidentally saving then loading a state and breaking my memorycard save.
If nothing's currently in place to allow per-game settings for savestates, could it be brought up to a dev ? I can't be the only one who'd benefit from that feature ? ^^"
Either delete all of the savestate hotkeys so that you have no risk of making or loading savestates, or use hotkey profiles to have a profile for PSO with no savestate hotkeys and a profile for other games with savestate hotkeys.

Yeah I deleted all savestate hotkeys, it's better, but I'm a bit dismayed that there isn't a way to turn off savestates on a per-game basis in config files to be honest ^_ ^"
